My 14-year-old lyme-diagnosed daughter has been on oral antibiotics for about two months now. She herxed about 2 weeks after starting them, and
has been in ever-increasing pain since then. She already was in a wheelchair. She's basically bedridden now. Last week we had our first
IM bicillan shot==and by the next day, she was more of a basket case than ever. The worst of it seems to be back pain. (But also knees,
hyper-sensitive shoulders, wrists....) Because of the searing pain in her back, it's impossible to get her into a tub for an epsom salt bath.
Any ideas for other ways to accomplish the same thing? Would soaking cloths in epsom salts and applying them to parts of her body that can
take them offer any help do you think? Other ideas? Dorothy

Oh, your poor daughter. I think you should call her LLMD and tell him/her.

My LLMD gave me a prescription for Lidicaine patches for my back to help ease the pain. (I think they just dulled the nerves.) I also had/have Flexeril (muscle relaxer) to take in case. Rarely need any of them now.

I remember when I first started abxs the back pain was crippling. I do hope she can find a comfortable position.

I'm sorry, I'm not much help.

thanks for your reply. I'll look into the patches and the muscle relaxant idea. Neither of those has been tried yet. Dorothy

Oh I feel so badly for your daughter...My son herxed the worst the first time on abx's....A full week of violent behavior....He was switched from Doxy to Sumycin and that seemed to help with the herxes...They werent as severe.

Now I use several things for herxes...
Activated Charcoal far away from abx...

Alka Setza Gold-for some reason neutralizes toxins....Dont know exactly why it works sometimes...

If she can sit up...Maybe epsom salts foot baths...Magnesium supplements may also help...

Chitosan....I use Chitopower but only on occasion...Works sometimes and not others...you can do a search on this...Alot of posts on it...

We have just stopped Mepron/Zith after 5 wks due to liver enzymes being elevated and also my sons herx was so severe after three weeks...Just relentless with aggression...and not sleeping at all..He would sob and shake after every episode and scream with headaches and arm aches....

We will go back to this but his body needs a rest...

Unrelated to lyme...I had a bout with bursitis for 6 weeks and the only thing that took the pain away was hydrocodone....I dont know if this can be used with lyme...

I feel for you and your daughter...It is very lonely and scary when nothing you try seems to help...I know just how you feel...

I forgot one more thing you may want to try....

Magnesium for life website has info on Mag Choride Gel and Oil..The oil is more potent than gel...I have used the gel on my son...It does sting but he tolerated it....They give suggestions on adding to baths (the oil) and making a spray out of it to spray onto body...

I have to say that when I started using this my son was happier than he was in a long time...He has other issues (special needs) and the program he is now attending made a point of telling me how much better he was doing....It is worth a shot...

I purchased thru Global Light ...

These are just a few ideas...They may or maynot help....I hope some do...
