Hi everyone,

Well my preliminary bloodwork for lyme came back positiive IGM was 1.49. Then i just got the phone call from my pcp today that my western block was all negative. So i had an appointment at the rheumy today anyways, he said def not lyme looking at the bloodwork, and not fibromyalgia. He thinks i have viral arthritis... he did bloodwork for lupus, parvo. Ugh what do i do, should i go to another rheumy and get more bloodwork done for lyme or what? My knee is still swollen, but hte rheumy said its just from the viral arthritis. Help!!

Western blots are not "negative" or "positive" in reality most of the time. Get the specific band information from the doctor, post it here, and or research further. A negative WB often means nothing and will in many cases turn positive with treatment. It can just mean that your immune system is so supressed that you don't create enough immune response to show up. See my "Testing" page at the URL below.

Who did you test with? I had 5 negatives with Quest, before I got a positive with Igenex.

I never had a true positive with Igenex, but I'd already done a month of abx when I sent in the bloodwork.

I spoke directly with the doc there and he said there is no difinitive result for Lyme. But given my symptoms, where I live, my one very high WB "band" and the fact that I had been on abx were plenty to treat on.

You need to get an LLMD.

Rheumies don't believe in Lyme, with few exceptions. Nor do they even know much about it. (Apologies to the few who may.)

Certain bands on a Western blot are SO specific to the bacteria that causes Lyme that it COULD ONLY BE LYME and nothing else that caused that band to show up. Yet a rheumie could still look at that test and shake his stoopid head and say, "Nope, you don't have Lyme."

Go find an LLMD and start getting better!! Post in "seeking a doctor." The fact that you already had one positive test is something already!!

If your are waiting for a CDC positive you may be waiting in vain. CDC negative DOES'T mean you do not have lyme.!

At the bottom of their test's for the western blot they say the following:

"Diagnosis shoulds not be based on laboratory tests alone. Results should be interpreted in conjunction with clinical symptoms and patieint history"

Please see the link below.

I hope you can find a LLD to help you .

Take care and blessings

It sure doesn't hurt to get the bloodwork done for Parvo and lupus, as you have already done.

Two people in our town had "lyme specific bands" and one actually had Parvo, and the other Brucellosis. So, ruling out other causes for your problems is important too.

Let us know how the appt with the rheumatologist went.

I had a rheumy tell me in Sept 99 that I had a bad virus and as soon as my body fought off this virus my joint pain would be gone.

I'm waiting.............three years of many combos of abx and money spent on traditional medicine and my health continuing to go downhill, I finally started looking elsewhere for help.

Alternative thinking outside the box and determination have finally made an impact on that so called virus.

in the absence of syphilis, IgG or IgM to 41 kDa reflects exposure to Bb and possible asymptomatic, latent, or late stage infection.

39 kDa is practically diagnostic. 41 + 39 = 100% probability of Bb infection.

the CDC serologic standards are a total fraud. a very serious crime perpetrated on the american people.
