Do you treat until all symptoms are gone? Or do you treat for 8 weeks and hope symptoms will go away?

My sons doctor says you treat until you are two months symptoms free. I think that is how llmd's feel and not regular doctors.

Hi,

What I see most from LLMD's is to treat until the patient is symptom free for 2 months.

If I had done the 8 weeks of treatment like my first doctor suggested, I would probably be dead right now. Instead, after 2+ years treatment, I started getting better and continue to do so.

Hope this helps,

Corgilla

I had Doxy for six weeks, 100 mg's 3 x a day, felt much better....

Guess What?

18 months later, finally on the correct treatment....

High doses, long time, I would say is the way to go.....

I did 3 months of Ketek, then 8 weeks of IV Rocephin with oral Zithromax. Then the LLMD said treatment is ending and you should get better. I have at least 3 symptoms that haven't gotten better.

coach,
what are your 3 remaining symptoms, maybe they are co-infection related and need a different treatment? Jill

Five months' total treatment? And that's it? I would hate to think of the shape I was STILL IN at five months' treatment. I bet lots of us on here could say the same thing.

I know this guy is an ILADS doc 'cause you already said so but again, I repeat... FIND A NEW DOC! To cut you loose after such a short period of treatmen, with these lingering symptoms that indicate ongoing infection, with NO follow-up after IV, is MIGHTY WEIRD!!
