I take ativan as a muscle relaxer, worsk great with my stiff muscles but when it wears off it really impacts me. My muscles get very stiff, swallowing, typing everything. I have not been diagnoised with Lyme (only Clinical) by blood yet.

Is this stiffness normal? Scary scary times.

Luke, I have a tremendous amount of stiffness; don't know if it's muscles or what? I get as stiff as a board in 30 minutes.

I'm on baclofen muscle relaxer; don't know if it works at all with all my other meds anymore.

I have terrible muscle stiffness in my right thigh. Klonopin helps somewhat.

I get this too although much less so since starting babesia treatment. Have you all been treated for co-infections?

Before the babs treatment, gentle exercises with deep slow breathing, shoulder rotations, hip rotations etc, helped alot. Massage, including self massage, helps me too.

I have also experienced muscle stiffness. Years ago my doctor had me hold my leg out on his hand while sitting. He would tell me to relax my leg and then remove his hand. My leg stayed up.

Anyway I think it is caused by Babesia. Possibly Magnesium shortage as well.

Luke,

I also have a lot of muscle pain/stiffness/spasms and have just recently considered that it's the untreated Babesia contributing in my case.

I'm to start Babs treatment in a few months and am hoping that's a key to this.

I have a lot of trouble sitting still because of it and sleep issues have been one of my worst symptoms as a result.

Sorry, it's early for me and I'm babbling, just wanted you to know you're not alone.

I've been wondering that myself. I have stiffness all over my body...especially in the chest/abdomen area. Is this lyme or babesia?

I take Flexeril for this. It has a long enough half life that I take it once a day, before bed, and it last the whole day. At my worst, I took the maximum dose of 30mg. It was the only think that gave me relief and allowed me to exercise my muscles.

I'm now down to 10 mg.

I don't know if it was the Lyme or the Babesia. But either way, treatment alone won't reverse it if your muscles are used to being tight. I needed real hands on physical therapy for almost a year, plus I need to do yoga on a regular basis. I couldn't do yoga for a while.
