I switched from ceftin 2000 mgs per day to doxy 400 mgs per day about a month ago. For the last week or so I have had a strange tingling feeling on the tops of my hands.
I have also had redness on my nose like a rash or something. I know about the increased solar sensitivity but thats not the cause because I,m not outside that much.
Has anyone had anything like this and should I reduce my dosage until I can get to my llmd?
Any info will be helpful......thanks, Rich

Hi Rich
The sun sencitivity that doxi can cause is not like a regular sun burn
You actually become alergic to light--
Your skin can break out in rashes -blisters and anything in between--
The skin tingles are early symptoms of this -- yep from light --
I have take about 4000 doxi tabs so I am some what of a unforntinuate expert on the side effects of doxi--
VERY IMPORTANT Read my post titled -- -- Doxi and Citrus Equials Pain--
I have written a bunch about doxi so search my posts about a year ago or so--- Tells what you need to know -
Also google -Photo Toxic--
If I can help you PM me --Jay--

I had the same tingling feeling on the tops of my hands, lips and face. I started wearing light colored gloves when driving and working outside. Use lots of sunscreen, it is easier to prevent than cure.

I had this in the winter while on doxy. The cold air brought it on.
My LLMD said that it happens a lot.
It really bothered me.
I also got huge pimply welts on my neck that caused serious scarring in the long run.
I stay away from doxy now.
Take care,
Corgilla

I had the exact same thing on Doxycycline, and it scared me too. The tingling on the tops of the hands, the burning weird skin stuff. Trust me, even the slightest bit of sun exposure, throgh a car window, through a house window, for 2 minutes going to get the mail, can burn your hands and cause the tingling. After just ONE small exposure to sun, my hands tingled so bad. They were not even red, but I found out it was the Doxycycline. Stay totally out of the sun, go food shopping at night, wear gloves, do everything you can to stay in, like a vampire, seriously. I wouldnt reduce your dose, just be 100% sure you are totally being a good Lyme vampire, maybe they can switch you to something else. Doxy is good in the beginning because it protects from Ehrlichia and Lyme at the same time.
