I live in Ireland and under the care of a doctor in the UK. I am currently on 1,500mgs of oxytetracycline five days a week, plus 300mgs of roxytrimicine (five days also). On tue, wed and thurs I add 1,200mgs of Flagyl. Have been on this regime for a month after five months on doxycycline with no improvement. Can anyone tell me how long they were on Flagyl, combined with other anitbiotics, before they felt an improvement. Thank u for all your support on this site. No-one in Ireland knows about this disease and u feel very isolated. Posts: 6 | From Ireland | Registered: Jan 2006

Joanne, I think it really depends on how long you've been ill ?
You're certainly taking enough abx for now. 1200mg of flagyl ? You must be experiencing herx reactions ? Please provide a little more info and we'll be able to better support you.

I have been sick for exactly four years, but only got diagnosed in September last. Initially was extremely ill with balance problems, constant dizziness, exhaustion, anxiety attacks, depression, derealisation, body pain, night sweats, insomnia, weakness. U name it, I had it. Blood tests showed that I have borellia and two forms of rickettsia. Currently I am too sick to work. I have dreadful fatigue, body pain, weakness, burning in legs, arms and neck, wrist pain, insomnia, night sweats - went to bed last night at 11.30pm and got to sleep at 7.30am. I think I must be herxing, but as it is so similar to my normal symptoms I don't know, although restless legs and electrical/burning sensation in legs has got worse. I am currently doing coffee enemas every evening to support my liver and I have bought an infrared sauna, but am too weak to use it. I feel dreadful, but hope I am on the road to recovery. The worst thing is that in Ireland I cannot get I.V antibiotics, which I think would speed things up. I was hoping someone could tell me if the oral antibiotics I am on could make me better. Thanks a mill for replying.
