I went to the ' Lyme ' doctor today and he is perscribing Flagyl I.V. every 12 hours. He wanted to do every 8 hours, but since I'm working full time again, that is going to be read difficult. Anyway, has anyone done Flagyl I.V. and used a CADD pump? I don't know if it is possible, but my PICC line nurse suggested I try and find out. I have a call back into the doctor, but he won't call until tomorrow, if the nurse gave him the message.

Also, he wants me to start Rifampin and if I can handle that, start Colchicine and if I handle both of those, then start Welchol. Anyone have any history with any of these for Lyme treatment?

Just how long does it take to get over this darn disease? I've been doing oral antibiotics since 10/04 and I.V. antibiotics since 11/04. I'm still hanging in there, but some days it gets real discouraging!!

Thanks,
Bill

I wonder why they would put you on IV Flagyl instead or oral, just curious. I did oral Flagyl and it packs a punch, works great!
Rifampin made me have some kind of bizarre medicine reaction and I couldnt take it. I bet IV Zithromax would be great along with oral Flagyl and Bicillin shots too, or the oral ketek, just some ideas! good luck in what you do & get!
Stay Strong!

I have been on oral Flagyl last year. I can't remeber, it either gave me bizarre nightmares or my liver enzymes shot up. I've been on oral Zithromax also. I was on it for about 6 months last year. I'm not crazy about getting the Bicillin shots and I just came off of oral Ketek. The ketek didn't really seem to do much at 400 mg, then when he jumped it to 800 mg I developed some chest discomfort. Thanks for the response!! You stay strong also.

I have been on ORAL flagyl.... the herxes were long (I was also taking bicillin at the time)

It did help though.

Unfortunately everyone is different when it comes to how long it takes to get rid of the symptoms

so no one can really give you an accurate timeline.

I understand it can be frustrating but keep hanging in there.

Best wishes [Smile]
