My family doctor has agreed to start my on

Amoxicillin. I cannot get in to see the LLMD doc

until May. She has also agreed to test me

through Igenex. I sent for the kit on March 8,

still have not received it. I called yesterday

and they are sending another one out. My question

is, should I start the Amoxicillin or should I

wait to take the Igenex test? I know I read that

sometimes the antibiotics will decrease the

accuracy of the test.

With Igenex they send it to your Dr then you take it home if its the 3 day urine test}{ the western blot done at your Dr's office they send that one in.
If you time your abx's with the 3 day urine and WB tests High doses abx to free any antigens and to kill the spirochetes if its a new infection likely not alot of evidence of infection if its a month or to old infection you should show a good responce if the infection is at its high cycle.

For antigen capture tests, they ususally start you on ABX prior. For the Western Blot, I am not of the opinion that it really matters since that is an antibody test which is your immune system's response to the bugs. I would think you would be ok with starting, but validate with your doctor.

My llmd drew the WB at the office. I was sent home with an Igenex kit for 3 day urine with antibiotic challenge. I collected the urine on days 3,5,7 of starting the antibiotic.

I think he ordered it because, if I have lyme the infection occurred in 1992 when I had the bullseye rashes. So, it's a long-standing infection.

I have an llmd appt. today.

I know this didn't really answer your question but this is how my llmd did it.

If it were me, just my opinion, I would wait until the WB is drawn before starting. What's one more week considering the amount of time you've had symptoms.
