I've been suspecting candida. The white tongue gives it away. have also been feeling dizzy as of late. I also have beyond dry skin. (on thyroid meds and labs check out ok)

I've been battling lyme and babesia with the usual array of antibiotics, mepron and supplements for years. Been trying to adhere to the diet. It would make sense that candida has finally gotten the best of me.

I tried a, what was advertised as a, potent multi strain probiotic yesterday and my stomach has been killing me ever since. Pain, bloating...

could this indicate that the candida is a lot worse then I anticipated. I had also added caprilyc acid and candex to my regime beginning about 2 weeks ago and LLMD took me off of one of the antibiotics about the same time.

So of course I'm also wondering if maybe without this antibiotic lyme symptoms are beginning to flourish as there is a noticeable increase in the dreaded fog, fatigue and achiness ...

so could stomach pain be actually from the lyme or is it the candida? Oh the quanrdries we find ourselves fretting over!!

I see LLMD in about 3 weeks, couldn't afford to see him any sooner even if I wanted to!! So until then any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's so frustrating that herx sx, yeast sx, yeast die off sx can be so similar!

Both Bb and bartonella can establish themselves in the lining of the stomach (and perhaps babesia too, but the jury is out on whether there is a tissue form of babs). I don't know about the other possible coinfections. Stomach upset was one of the first indicators of LD and Co for my hubby.

Die off and toxin release from yeast can cause massive stomach upset, and since you're taking candex and caprylic this is a convincing culprit.

Some probiotics contain FOS, which causes major stomach upset in some people. There may be other ingrediants in your probiotic that upset your stomach -- hard to say.

H Pylori and C difficile can also take over the gut after prolonged abx use and cause a lot of gastric misery. For us, tx for these two was pretty straight forward and took only a couple of weeks.

And...some abx can cause gastric upset in and of themselves. I don't know how long you've been on the one abx you're still taking? Is the timing right for a herx cycle?

I can only tell you what I've done in similar situations (aside from the c. diff and h. pylori tx) -- back off the most likely suspect, wait till I'm improving, then add stuff back in slowly and one at a time. I've used charcoal or psyllium/bentonite clay to detox my gut, and I drink detox tea and peppermint ginger tea to get things settled down. Charcoal and clay will absorb everything, including abx, so take them 3 hours apart from anything else.

Sacchromyces boulardii is absolutely wonderful at helping the gut to heal, and I've never heard of anyone reacting badly to it.

Good luck.

Yes Minnoucat, that is what my LD told me to use: Sacchromyces.

I think I have to switch I'm not sure. I checked the incredients of the Custom Probiotics and I don't see Sacchromyces listed. It just says 25 billion per pill with acidophilus and Bifidus. I saw the following on a web page and my Ld is recommending this.

Florastor is proven effective:
Multiple double blind studies (the best type of clinical studies) have shown that Florastor (Saccharomyces boulardii lyo) helps with:

Diarrhea you get while taking antibiotics, called Antibiotic-Associated Diarrhea
Acute/chronic diarrhea, this is the type of diarrhea you can get if you eat
something bad or get an infection in your bowels (gut) from a bad bug (pathogenic bacterium).
Traveler's diarrhea, you get this while on vacation or traveling for your job if you eat something bad or get an infection in your bowels from a bad bug (pathogenic bacterium).
Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea, often called ``C. diff'' by your healthcare professional. C. diff is a bad bug that causes diarrhea. The bug lives in hospitals and you are only ``at risk'' if you go into a hospital for surgery.
Bloating and gas are sometimes caused by the high number of bad bugs in your bowels or gut. Taking a probiotic like Florastor, can often help reduce the bloating and gas caused by the pathogenic bacteria (bad bugs).

Sounds like this is the culprit! I would think you are experiencing yeast die-off from the candex and caprylic acid.
