It seems that with my son his food allergies that he had as a baby and no coming back to bite him in the butt. He is 16 and his milk allergy is back and now we are finding out the possibility of Celiac disease and now we have to avoid wheat which is in everything! Anyone else have problems with allergies coming back and really becoming a problem?

not me but I know lots of others who have.
It seems that the entire body is out of balance and allergies are very common with this.
I dont have any answers, but do you have good asian food around you? Often Indian, Thai and vietnamese do not have ANY wheat in their recipes and are super TASTY! (Make sure they dont use MSG though.)
YOu might want to search around for a celiac board to get other hints.
I am sorry you and your son are suffering this way~ trails

Amy, When you start googling wheat free and gluten free diets, you'll find online stores that offer all kinds of things that will fit in with your son's diet.
There is gluten free bread, pasta made from beans, and different kinds of baking mixes.
There are many different kinds of grains that you can cook with. There are websites with lots of recipes.
I remember this from when I looked up info a couple years ago, when my sister was going to do a gluten free diet. She only did it for a couple months, as it didn't help her.

My son had this when younger as the lyme went away so did the gluten problems...like magic.
Trader Joe's carries a bunch of gluten free products.
Good luck

My hubby got Celiac Disease at the age of 50 from Lyme. It was confirmed by biopsy.
If your son get's a firm diagnose of Celiac he will have to stay on a gluten-free diet for the rest of his life - the milk problem might go away with the diet - but not the gluten problem.
If they don't find Celiac disease in him, check out the posts on this board for "leaky gut", which can cause transitory food allergies. These allergies can be cured with healing the leaky gut. But for a while, the offending food also has to be avoided.

The treatment method is really catching on across the US. I am sure you could find a practitioner close to your area. Good luck with the allergies.

Concerned-
Problems in the gut are a symptom of Bartonella. Has he been treated for co-infections?
My daughter has just started bart treatment after a long time of stomach problems. Hard to strain out what symptoms are from what!
My son and I do not tolerate wheat for the same reason, I believe.
I was COMPLETE overwhelmed by the thought of cutting out wheat from our diet. Midwest farmgirl.
It is definitely a paradigm shift.
I make a meat, vegetable, fruit, and starch every night. (rice, potatoes, polenta) You can buy tapioca bread, and brownie mixes, etc. on line or at health food store. They are expensive, so I don't depend on these as staples. We do keep rice crackers and walnut thins around here.
We eat some things with traces of gluten, which some people cannot tolerate or don't believe in. There are a lot of needs around here, as I am ure everyone here can relate too. Anyway, being 100%perfect isn't at top of the list.
I know for some people, it is important to be very strict as they cannot tolerate a trace. If you are interested in talking about the celiac diet, feel free to pm.
