Ive had a cold for a few days now. When the cold came on, my whole body inflammed! My arms hurt like heck, Im achey everywhere too. Yes, its definately a cold too since my kids also have it.

Anyway, who else gets a big flare up with just a minor cold??

Colds are strange since the lyme.

Yes - I get more achy than before, with heavier neuropathy, more headaches, etc. But my sinuses refuse to work the way they should and flush out the cold...I get the barest of sniffles then my sinuse sort of pack up.

Miserable!!!

Thats what I am experiencing too! My nose is hardly running-hardly any discharge. Yet my throat feels awful and I sneeze all the time.

When I got a cold I used to feel like I was dying...

Now since I have made some improvement with the lyme....

last time I got a cold it made the lyme only somewhat worse...

Maybe my immune system is just better these days....

Same here ...the more improvement I made the easier the colds got... Now I think I might react a little more severely or longer to a cold but not too much out of realm...

For me its the stomache flus that get me and make my immune system run wild..... Unfortunately there has been more of that going around this season ...

Well luckily I haven't had a cold in over a year. I usually get one this time of year anyway. Its getting better, but it usually takes me quite a bit of time to get over one too.

I get really sick from a virus too. It makes all my symptoms much worse. It's not usually the symptoms from the virus that make me feel like dying, but all my lyme symptoms that get really bad.

Dear Nal,

What you described is exactly my experience. I was doing well last fall when I got a bad cold and sinus infection. My arms ached like crazy. It's hard to describe, but it's so annoying. My shoulders and neck hurt too....all the lyme symptoms seemed to flare up. Finally it passed and I felt great for a couple months. Then the stomach virus/flu hit my family last week. I suffered through the virus, but now the achy arms are back! Ugh!!!! I just wonder how long this will go on.... frustrating.

I have had a head and chest cold / virus for the last week and it didn't make my Lyme better or worse. But I can say one thing: when they say that Lyme feels like the muscles aches associated with flu, I had forgotten ... Lyme muscle aches and joint pain are much worse.

I very rarely get colds or other normal type sicknesses [Wink] (maybe once every 3 or 4 years).

For the most part they're of short duration and I have less TBD symptoms during them.

That said I've gotten hit by a nasty something, or other, the past 3 days. Beats me what it is, but I can't seem to shake the fever and aching.

As if the coughing, sneezing, running, blowing, sore throat and swollen glands weren't enough. Ugh! [bonk]

When I get a cold or flu now, I get much sicker than I used to. Every cold and Lyme symptom gets worse, and it seems to last twice as long.

I am assuming it's because my immune system has been compromised by the Lyme and Bart and whatever else is going on. I try not to expose myself to illness, but it's really hard! Especially when I have to fly to see my Lyme doc.

Last time I went some bozo sat right behind me in a completely empty terminal and started sneezing and coughing all over the place. I moved as fast as I could, but it was too late. I was sick for a month. [dizzy]
