Long time since I've posted here. Last you heard from me I was off all abx for about 6 or 9 months after a two year hard core course of abx cocktails.
It's now been a year and almost a half and I'm still doing well (thank God). I have most of my life back and more, life is better than it's ever been as everything around me is more than I could ask for. I still detox a lot, I do supplimentations (just not quite as many as before) and I eat healthy and try to exercise in my spare time.
We recently took our son to get lazer eye surgery (his eyes were really bad) and he's doing great, no complications and NO GLASSES. I now spend a lot of time on stage as a lead singer and trumpet player in a 5 piece band and would prefer not to have to wear glasses if possible so I'm seriously considering doing the same procedure.
What I'd like to know is if anyone here has had it done, how long ago and how are they now? Were there any complications in healing? All input would be great as I suspect there may still be spirochetes in remission in my body and I don't want to have them flare up and out to attack my eyes and possibly blind me.
Thanks all and God Bless

The clinic I'm thinking of having it done at says they want patients like us to be symptom free for at least 6 months but even though I'm doing well, every time I get a small ache or pain I become concerned as to whether or not it's the beginning of a relapse. So far it's just the normal things in life but like you Tincup, I want to be sure.
It would be great to hear from more people on this one.

My LLMD recommended a neuro-opthamologist he knew was familiar with lyme. I am very nearsighted and have always wanted to have lazer surgery, but even though the opthamologist can't see any damage to my eyes from the lyme, I know there is still something going on from the vibrations, changes of vision etc. (invisible to the eye, but there for many years-as is the lyme)
Even if I had not tested postitive again by WB last June, the opthamologist said I would not be a candidate now for lazer surgery because of my problem with dry eyes. He said it would become much worse with the lazer surgery. (he also does lazer surgery, so I knew he must be pretty honest as he could have had me as a lazer patient too.)
In the past, two other opthamologists (both of whom also do lazer surgery) had said "No problem". However, when I tried to explain my concern about not wanting to arouse the lyme bugs, they obviously did not know anything about lyme and the eyes, and were unwilling to research it, so I was afraid to take a chance.
I'd just be sure your lazer doc knows the way lyme loves inflammation of any sort. And if you have not had eye problems due to lyme, you would probably be fine. (Just a guess!)
Good luck!

My eye docs all have indicated it would not be wise to do laser surgery until symptom free of lyme, and you need to be sure that anyone doing it knows a lot about current lyme research--from an LLMD, not just out-dated med school info. I would not accept their assurances without knowing more about their specific knowledge of lyme, especially about persistence in the cyst forms. I had early uveitis early on from lyme and didn't even know it, until being examined as a precaution due to being put on plaquenil. (I was a lyme case identified early, starting abx within a week of the bite and have been staying on them non-stop for years, using multiple types simulataneously. Never have totally beat all symptoms yet.) I'm convinced they can definitely be lurking in the eyes. Much as I'd like to do the eye laser surgery, I'm waiting. The eye surgeons are improving their techniques and learning more about the longterm effects meanwhile, so it's not all bad to be patient...)
