Jordan consistently has low neutrophils and high lymphocytes.

What does this mean? Does it identify any co-infections?

Thanks!

hello..i am new to the board

i am not sure what it means to have low cbc counts with lyme...i do not have a dx yet, but i was told that virus' present things like low WBC and infections, like lyme would present high counts... i am not sure if this is a surefire way to conclude whether one has lyme though...my wbc was normal, 5.4, then i had it done again and it went down to 3.8. not sure what this means..

I have had the same exact thing for the past 3-4 years. I have very low wbc (w/ low neutrophils and high lymphs) and low rbc/hematocrit/hemoglobin.

Because this pattern continued for so long regardless of what treatment regimen I was on, I recently had a consult with a hem/onc specialist and a bone marrow biopsy yesterday (I highly recommend avoiding that at all costs - ouch).

Hopefully that will have some answers, otherwise my doctors will continue to be stumped!

But the hem/onc did have three ideas of what could be causing the bad counts: Lyme in the bone marrow, suppression/damage from 3 yrs+ of high dose IV antibiotics, or something completely unrelated to Lyme.

So I don't know if this gives you any answers, I hope it helps somehow.

I forgot to add in that in addition to Lyme, I also have Babesiosis and Bartonella.

So I guess it could be related to co-infections, but I would think that the counts would normalize with treatment if that was the case. However I am no expert...

My wbc have also been verry low but when I was treated for ehrlichia my Whites started to go back to normal. Low whitte counts can be a direct realtion to ehrlicia. I was treated with rfampin for 1 month and after my counts starated to fall again, we still supsect the erhichis is not gone yet. There is one ares to look at with respect to the high lymph counts, how is the lymph system? My coount were very high in this are befor getting lymph massage work. then the dropped back to normal, my lymph system was very clogged

I have had the opposite problem most of the time since getting sick.
My neutrophils are sometimes too high, while my lymphocytes are always too low.
One of these conditions means viral infection and the other means bacterial infection, but I can't remember which is which, so sorry.

Ehrlichiosis (HGE) was 1st found in Minnesota. Jordan did not test positive for Ehrlichiosis but I think we need to treat him for it.

So Rifampin is a med for Ehrlichiosis? I started Rifampin 3-4 weeks ago and had a very bad herx.
