I have this symptom also. Hands and feet very painful all the time. I have just had another round of tests.

Salmonella is showing up very positive. My Dr. told me this can cause a reactive arthritis. Hot epsom salts baths and pain meds are the only thing that help for me.

I take 1 1/2 extra strength Tylenol and a 1/4 of a Percocet. That way I can still function and it seems to take the edge off of the pain so I can function without being groggy.

Hope this helps,
Cindy

My main symptoms were/are swelling in joints, especially hands and feet. For months I was unable to stand very long or do many simple things with my hands like brush my hair, teeth, button shirts.

I eventually was diagnosed with Rhuem. Arthritis which the LLMDs (4) say can be coming from the Lyme.

At the same time I was diagnosed RA, my stomach began to burn badly when I ate. I was researching the net about RA and stumbled on an article about Leaky Gut Syndrome and how it can cause joint pain.

I changed to a very restrictive vegan diet as the article said if it was going to help I would know it within 1-2 weeks. I felt it was worth a try.

Well, my swelling went away completely which dropped my pain level down significantly. Where before the diet I could barely stand long enough to take a shower and sometimes not even that, now I was able to walk around for an hour or more and my hands became 95% useful again.

I am now 2 mths into the diet and am functioning much better. The diet is not a cure but it is very anti-inflamatory which greatly reduced my pain. Yesterday I was on my feet all day and late in the day went out to ride my horse. I have been riding whenever possible but always needed my husband to saddle the horse as lifting the saddle and tightening the girth was impossible for me. Yesterday I was able to do it all by myself. Proud moment!

I have since had testing and I do indeed have leaky gut which is allowing bacteria and parasites into my blood as well as yeast. Once yeast is in your bloodstream it is systemic and very serious!!!! You don't want to let this go unchecked.

The doctor feels much of my joint pain will be gone when this is cleared up. It will require IV treatments to kill the black yeast. I begin those in a couple of weeks.

I have experimented some with my diet and have found I can eat lean meats without causing inflamation. I had to eliminate wheat and corn as I found they were causing me pain. I must have an allergy to them.

The main culprits are dairy, sugar and refined starches. Try eliminating them from your diet for 2 weeks and see if you feel better.

I have the same symptom. My hand pain was so severe that I basically lost use of my hands for two years. Suprisingly, the pain was actually caused by tight muscles in my thoraci outlet area (around the shoulder). Foot pain appears to come from my hips and buttock muscles.

What helped me is taking a muscle relaxer, flexeril, combined with intensive hands on physical therapy to relax the muscles. The type of pt I used was alled myofascial release. It did not help until I started the flexeril.

Are your shoulder muscles tight? You can tell if it is referred pain by pressing on tight muscles in your shoulder/neck area. If you hit a spot that causes hand pain, then it's referred.

I also found that plaquenil reduced the swelling and stiffness in my hands.

not those rice filled things.

Best wishes [Smile]

Organic apple cider vinegar and honey mixed in water helped most of my joints, esp my hands and wrists tremendously.

It also helped my brother w/the arthritis in his hands. He had to stop drinking it when he got an ulcer on his tongue, however. But then his aching hands came back again.

I know others on this board can't seem to tolerate it for one reason or another, perhaps the sugar in the honey. But I've been able to drink it daily with no problem and only what I feel are beneficial results.

Recommended dose if you want to try it is 2 tsp w/ 2 tsp honey in a glass of water, twice a day. Be sure you get only the organic apple cider vinegar.

I know people may be skeptical, and so was I, esp given that I was formerly a clinical pharmacist, but when you're in misery and nothing else is working, what do you have to lose by trying it? It worked for my brother who wasn't being helped by Celebrex.

I have been under treatment for Bartonella for almost seven months now. I'm into my third month of Cipro. The last couple of weeks I've noticed increased pain all over, with swelling in my hands and knees.

This is in spite of all the detox that I am able to do. I'm thinking it is the Cipro at this point. It does seem to have a reputation for increasing pain for people.

B Blues,

I used to have terrible pains in my hands nonstop w/ weekness.

Along with shoulder arms knees legs feet..... on and on.

The hands were the worst for me. I had xrays and they said I didn't have arthritis.

I had naproxen which I had seizures from. Quit that.

5 weeks into taking biaxin the pain started to lift. I rarely get hand pain anymore. Biaxin was the first antibiotic I started with.

It's now aprox 1 yr 4 mo w/ treatment sick over 8 yrs.

It goes away with treatment and rest.

Biaxin and plaq was a great combo for me.

Good luck,
