Hi,
Here with the drama of the day.

This morning I noticed a rash on my ankle and other leg. Perfectly round dark red circles. Like 10 of them.

I called my MD who said come in right now. (to rule out Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever)

The dr, not my usual MD, said it was not RMSF. Then that it could be related to my lyme and co or even vascular. Encouraged me to watch and consult LLMD.

After the nurse urged me to rush in; he treated me like I was overreacting. He was sort of amazed at my explanations of not being able to tell if rash itched or hurt because of numbness. Do I have headache, feel sick? Hard to tell with generally feeling bad. Pretty much questioned my Bart diagnosis and told me it is very unusual for a person to have more than 1 or 2 bacterial infections at once.

Anyway, I am convinced, for now, that I do not have RMSF. Fortunately, will see my LLMD on Thursday.

I have read here about strange rashes erupting or reoccuring over time.

The rash is still slowly increasing and moving up from ankle. Just found a spot on my side.

Has anyone here had polka dots?

Char

This was how they figured out to test me for Lyme----the rash that no one could figure out what it was. Didn't itch, didn't hurt, started at my ankles and spread upwards toward knee, and inside calves. BUT, mine were joined together, not rings. It was slightly raised, dark pink, almost purple, and really ugly. Got one dot on my arm, and noe have one on my hand.

It lasted 3 weeks, faded, sloughed off like a sunburn, then would start again after a few days.
Went 3 rounds, then never came back.

First biopsy was granuloma annulare, second was vasculitis, third was no one could figure it out.
Dermo gave me pix, I gave them to LLMD who said they were a type of Lyme rash.

Hope this helps?
Jill

Good idea, mj.

Jill,
That is interesting. I have had lyme 5yrs, treated for lyr.
Haven't had rash since the original.
Do you have co-infections?

How many times did they do that cycle?

i have been dealing with something like this now for two months.

two months ago i had a red patch of itching skin on my upper thigh, thought it was dry skin. a couple of weeks later it was like a ring red and clearing in the center and had another one next to it.

Thought it was fungal, mabye ringworm and treated it with OTC creams antifungal. after 3 tubes and no help i know had like 15 of them spread throughout my groin.

I showed DR. P at my apt. a couple of weeks ago and he had no clue, said it could be fungal, or a secondary lyme rash. I am now on fluconazole 200 mgs. for a month. he said if it was fungal that it should clear up with this.

Well two weeks into it now and they are still there, they have faded a little bit and appear to be drying up, but it is weird, i think they are going to leave scars.

i have looked at many photos online and on this site of rashes and i'm telling you they look identical to a fungal ringworm, they look nothing like my original bullseye that i had in june.

i really dont know what to do now, does anyone know what happens when ringworm heals? does it dry up and flake like i described or what? is two weeks enough to see a difference on the fluconazole. i dont know. thanks dj

Char,
They cycled 3 times. I am not sure about co-infections yet. Lately I have been having extreme pain and burning in my feet, people here said it might be co-infection. I see LLMD tomorrow.

Best of Luck,
Jill
