I have been dealing with a "ringworm " type rash now for almost 2 months. I have been told mabye ringworm, mabye secondary lyme rash, mabye allergy, mabye nutritional issues, mabye yeast.
what is the deal, i have searched all the past posts on rashes here and the one common thing i seem to find is that many of us seem to suffer alot of skin issues.
some like mine, some different, but it seems there are alot of rashes and skin issues to do with lyme and co infects.
Can someone give insight to why the skin is having so many problems, and why so many of them appear to be mysterys to llmd's, dermatologists, docs, etc.
what is happening, share your skin problem, or rash issues please......DJ

HI D.J.
My most recent rash occurred after starting IM bicillin LA, after having been off antibiotics for a couple of months due to various reasons.
10 days after starting the bicillin I had a J-H reaction that put me in the ER with tachycardia.
4 days later I felt ill. After showering, I noticed a red rash in the shape of a circle on my abdomen. It was like someone had drawn on me with a red pen. It was a thin line; but definately a circle, about 4" in diameter. It was not "colored" in.
I went to the dermatologist and had it biopised. She had never seen anything like it.
It is going to be sent off to a lab for further lyme studies, including PCR.
Have you had a doctor/dermatologist look at your rash?

I had three very serious skin rashes before I was dx with Lyme.
One actually happened a short time after my 10-day treatment for a bulls-eye rash back in 1996. That was a full-body rash, and it was nasty.
Two others have occured since then and both have been full body.
They've all been written off by the doctors as being allergic rashes, though nobody was able to offer me any more guidance than that.
Of course, i was given steroids for treatment in two cases.

Actually, timaca, my palms and soles of my feet were not involved. But it was all over the rest of me.
The Lyme rash was tame by comparison to these.

I've been breaking out in weird rashes for 13 years, since my bullseyes. These are not bullsey's. they are very odd looking, irregular borders, some are linear, very itchy. The seem to come out for no reason.
I had one on my thigh once that was the about the size of half my thigh. The duck said maybe I had a bacterial infection and this was how my body was responding to it. He gave me keflex.
I did see a derm a few months ago and he said it looked kinda like eczema but it was not in the right places. One time I had it on my left palm.
It's usually my legs, or my whole trunk.

Before deciding that I had Lyme, I broke out in a rash from head to toe, including my palms and soles. I had what looked like a ringworm around my tick bite, not the erythema migrains depicted in the pictures I've seen online. This happened one afternoon around 4PM and was completely gone by the next morning. Off and on, I'd awaken some mornings to discover mosquito-bite-like bumps, which would clear within a couple of hours. I've been on abx's since last July and haven't had any rashes since then, except that my tick bite, which is usually invisible, swells up about once a month. I assume that its spewing out spirocetes when this happens.

andie~ I asked about your rash, for 10 years ago, after what I thought was a spider bite to my finger (it developed into an open, necrosing wound), I developed a rash on the trunk of my body, and on palms and soles (it was hard to walk and hard to hold a pencil).
Since that time, I've learned that rickettsia infections can present with a rash on palms and soles.
JimMet~ I, also, had a round, rash (like someone drew on me with a red pen). It happened recently after starting the IM bicillin. The rash only lasted for 2 days. I felt ill the first day. Did you feel ill with your "ringworm" rash?
I am excited, for I talked with my LLMD yesterday, and he found a pathologist who is familiar with isolating borrelia from tissue. He will look at my skin biopsy! Yeah!

My body rashes only go back 10 years; itch terribly, red, & run a fever.
Had another elbow/arm rash last week. Hubby suggested putting rubbing alcohol on it...IT WORKED! I just had to keep applying mainly to outside area where I rub until I can't itch anymore.
I've used all types of rx creams without success. Just wanted to pass along the cheap rubbing alcohol success I had.

I just read this:
"The skin is also a great place for the bugs. They like to stay away from the heat."
That was Dr. B. talking about Bb in the Hope to Heal conference notes (see Better Health Guy website).
I guess I never thought much about Lyme bugs being in my skin......
Interesting treatment, Betty - I may try it if my latest "rash experiment" fails. I'm tired of having to use Rx steroid cream for treatment.
