How long is too long to be on one ATBX for Lyme? I have been on Doxy for almost 2 years straight to help with my vision.
I now have a new sx that cropped up about a week or so ago, I have this terrible numbness and tingling in my feet. Is this treatable or a permanent thing?
I have been almost three years without any problems and now it is like a huge blow! I woke up 2 nights in a row in a cold sweat and then the next day my legs and feet started burning me!
I sware it is the Lyme Vaccine along with the multiple tick bites that gave me Lyme, although most MD's look at me like I am from Mars when I say I am being treated for Lyme.

Hi dzeb,
I'm gonna assume you were not pre-tested for lyme disease prior to your vaccine for same.
Chances are you had lyme prior to vaccine which I have heard gives folks like you a terrible case of lyme disease.
In as much as lyme hits the central nervous system you will experience numbness and burning as one would with Raynauds syndrome usually associated with diabetes...a peripheral neurapathy type of symptom.
You probably should have switched to a different oral abx like ammoxicillin or some other in two years. We tend to reach a plateu with the same abx usage after time.
Hope this helps ya a little......zman

Yes, you are correct, I was not tested for Lyme prior to the vaccine and I had a few tick bites prior to the vaccine, that is what prompted me to get the vaccine for "protection' from Lyme. Never would I imagine that I would have such devistating effects from the vaccine years later.
However, not one MD other than my LLMD would admit that you could get Lyme from the vaccine.
I have an appointment with my LLMD tomorrow she moved it up from Thursday because I was complaining about my legs and feet. Hopefully she will prescribe another drug as I believe I have built up a tolerance to DOXY.
Is this type of neuropathy correctable with Lyme or do you always have the numbness and tingling in your extremities?

Hi,
Listen to what you stated here....(You Believe)you have built up tolerance to doxy...MMMMMM!
If you think you can, you can! Maybe the Doxy is still working, right?
I tried Doxy for six weeks, it helped me, did not really herx too bad....
Amox. was the same...If you want an earth shattering herx, proving you have lyme, or atleast something in your body that should not be there....
Ask for Tetracycline 1500 mgs a day!
I had a number of good days after the first two months.....It did help me!

It has been my experience that all my symptoms were reversable. I had nunbness in my fingers as an initial symptom.
I had major pain in the am in my feet. I understand this could have been bart.
I was on tetra for 2.5 years and was about 90-95% better. Sometimes I was more symptomatic then others. The tetra seemed to get bart, lyme and RMSF.
I was on diflucan for three months after tetra and feel 100% most of the time.
It takes a long time to be well. I found the stresses of life would affect my symptom/herx level.

Is it possible that you may have had another tick bite?
Seems possible that you could have co-infections like Babesiosis &/or Bartonella? Have you been tested for them?
Tests for co-infections are not any more reliable than Lyme tests, but there's a possibility they would be positive if the disease is there.
Have you had any treatment for co-infections? Babs & Bart take different meds from LD. Some LLMDs treat for co-infections without testing because they are often present with Lyme.
Let us know what your LLMD says tomorrow.

I'd say two years is PLENTY!! The longest I was on any med was about 18mo...Biaxin. It was working so well, we just ran with it.
Switching to another med might be a very good idea for you. And YES, get tested for coinfections ASAP!
At least 1,000 people got Lymed by the vaccine. There were tons of lawsuits.

In answer to your question as to permanency of neuropathy...everyone is different and for different reasons I suspect.
Personally I have gotten some relief of the bee/wasp stings in my legs but numbness persists.
I also have extenuating circomstances you may not. I have had to have bilateral Knee replacement which entails surgery and the severing of nerves.
You may get complete reversal...or you may retain some permanent nerve dammage...only time will tell.
These symptoms may decrease in time and medication.
Hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones...zman

I got rid of my neuropathy using the photon stimulator. Bales Scientific makes it. You can google them for more info or call them to get practitioners in your area.
