I stopped taking the Doxy yesterday, as it was causing lots of problems. Doc will be informed tomorrow.

1)nausea
2)black tongue - yeast problem
3)constipation
4)headache
5)body aches
6)fatigue
7)facial rash and dryness

I felt better without it but still am nauseus. I didn't have any of these problems while I was on Rocephin. And the Rocephin made me feel 60% better.

I want to go back on it!!!!

Doxy not only gave me terrible nausea but made me vomit.

Sorry you are having to put up with all the symptoms. I hope you get some relief soon.

Best wishes

I took before Amoxy, Biaxin with Metro, Ketek, Tetra but doxy brought back so many past symtoms of Lyme (herx) that it suprised me.

Unfortunetally it is a nasty drug. I did vomit twice, I feel nausea quite often but I continue taking it. If I have too much I reduce dose to 200-300 mg per day. When I feel better I increase the dose back to at least 600 mg.

Thanks......just goes to show you what works for one person doesn't for another.

I'm on 200 doxy a day and get sick about 15 minutes after I take it.

Just made an appointment with an LLMD near me. Hopefully, I'll get the picc line going again.

[dizzy] (geesh, never thought I'd say that! I hated it the whole time I was on it, except for the last week when I felt so much better@)

Tothepoorhouse

I am so sorry to hear you are nausated. I know that is the pitts.

Doxy, over the years has been very effective for me but is very hard on the tummy.

To take it I would take it in the middle of a big meal and down 8-10 0z of water. And not lay down for at least 2 hours because it can cause acdi burn in your throat.

Make sure to seperate probiotics at least 2 hours apart.

For yeast provention I like theralac.com in the afternoon then at night I take other probiotics.

When I have yeast problems diflucan works for me the best.

Nystatin is a good preventive measure to take 2XD
for control of yeast.

And of course no sugar realy low carbs diet is really important.

It is really important if you have thrush to ask your LLMD about how o clear that up ASAP> Because with evry swallow you are passing the yeast infec thru your body.

Durning the worst of the nausea the only RX that worked was promethazine and Carafate. I am still on carafate and think it has helped alot.

The best natural remady was sucking on slices of ginger root and mastic gum.

I do hope your tummy feels better soon and your LLMD has some good suggestions for you

hang in there [group hug]
dana

make sure to talk over everything you read here
first with your LLMD

I'm floating between 600 and 800 mg a day. It took some time to get there. Not so nauseated anymore, although I do take it with food. I do notice however that I am somewhat depressive for about an hour and a half after each dose.

Two more months of this and we'll see where we're at.

Doxy is a great drug, but you MUST take it only with a FULL meal. I had the same problems listed above, which stopped once I figured this out.

So sorry you're feeling so poorly, Poorhouse.

Dana and others have given great advice here.

You really should invest in some Theralac, it will cure that black tongue in a jiffy. Do the Doxy in the middle of a meal.

It made me feel like heaving, too. I would have to slump into a chair and sit till the nausea passed, sometimes an hour or so, often falling asleep sitting up. (Dying to lie down, but fearing to.)

I hated it, and it gave me ferocious headaches, but it has some wicked keet-killing power, so I rolled with it. It does get a little better later on, and some people manage to stay on it quite a long time.

Like you, I found IV much, much easier to bear than doxy. Regrettably, my insurance company did not.

Some of the symptoms you describe are part and parcel of herxing. Give yourself lots of rest and get on some Theralac - it will fix the constipation and the yeast overload and even improve the fatigue somewhat.

Hope you are feeling better soon..

[group hug]

Michelle

Thanks so much! I did just start Theralac for the yeast. [Smile]

I was taking the doxy with food but no better. And the facial rash is really getting on my nerves. [Mad]

Onward and upward to my next great abx encounter. [Smile]

interesting - I have had no problems with the doxy. Are you taking the generic? I have the Brand name Vibramyacin.
