Hello everyone. I do not yet have a lyme diagnosis, but I have so many symptoms of it and am preparing to get blood drawn for igeneX.
I have been up all night, as weird spasmy twitches have been affecting me. My leg will jump up for a second or my pinky will do a weird twitch. This is all so much for me.. I keep thinking AHH I HAVE PARKINSONS, I have become such a hypochondriac lately. I am only 19.
I also have this weird whoosy dizzy pressure feeling in my head, almost like a numbness, but no headache. I just feel very off, the worst I have been in the 4 months this has been going on, since my trip to NY state and a suspected lyme infection.
I would like to point out that I have been PMSing very badly this week, and I am on zithromax for a throat infection. I have also been taking colloidal silver for the throat on my own.
Could this be a herx due to the abx I am on for the throat? I am very scared that I have meningitis or parkinsons or some terrible illness. I feel very weird. Any advice would be valued.

pru, It's very normal to feel this way before you get your diagnosis. I was exactly the same, 'do I have lyme, or do I have some other disease'? The symptoms you discribe above are very common in Lyme patients and I have both of them. Try not to get stressed because stress does make you worse, I was exactly the same before I got tested and I became so stressed I couldn't sleep and got worse. I also have a throat infection at the moment, I think this is quite common for Lyme patients to get, I have had it for about 8 days now and it still hasn't gone.
Try not to worry and don't get stressed, drink loads of water and rest.
Take care Chris

Hi Pru, Your symptoms sound so very familiar. My 20 year old has had them off and on for quite a while. It is a scary thing, but reading other people's experiences here should bring you some comfort. Be sure to look through the Newbie sites. Too much information to digest in a short time, but worth the effort in small doses! Good luck nailing down a diagnosis and getting treatment started. Keep us posted!

Hi Michelle, from another Michelle!
Good advice has been given. At your tender age, chances are much better for Lyme than any other dread diseases. Not that Lyme isn't a handful in itself! Most have had the symptoms you describe and the Zith could have stirrin' up a lot of reaction from you (i.e., a herxheimer reaction). I recall constant sore and achy throat -- it used to switch from one side to the other mysteriously!
When you get your test results back, you're going to celebrate having Lyme as it will put to rest a lot of your fears about all the OTHER weird diagnoses floating around in your head. Then you can get down to work stompin' out borrelia.
Head pressure is "normal" in Lyme -- be thankful it's not a roarin' migraine! Hang in there and rest assured Lyme is your most likely dx. If you have an LLMD already, keep him/her advised of your symptoms - if you don't, find one ASAP!
Best of luck in healing!

Hubby was 45 when he first got sick 5 years ago. His main symptoms were nausea/vomiting/dry heaves and a Parkinsonian tremor. Later progressed to myoclonus (muscle jerks) and seizure-like episodes.
13 neurologists over 1 1/2 years confirmed hubby did not have Parkinson's or any neurological disease. The 14th neurologist (an LLMD) described it as a "bizarre movement disorder" and diagnosed neuroborelliosis (central nervous system Lyme disease).
Hubby was put on IV Rocephin and has been in treatment for 3 years now for Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella.
Once you start learning about this illness you will find there are reasons (mainly nutritional) why Lyme causes tremors and muscle twitches etc.
You could try epsom salts baths if what you have are very fine tremors. But please do a search and read more about this. If the cause is a magnesium deficiency the epsom salts baths will help calm the tremors, but you need to go slow to see how your body reacts.
Welcome to LymeNet.
Please ask all the questions you want. Lots of friendly helpful people here.
The colloidal silver could also be causing a herx reaction. Depends somewhat on the brand and dose.
This is just my opinion based on experiences with hubby and is not medical advice.

Michelle,
I have the same twitching symptoms you describe. They can come from Lyme or co-infections.
Although some of my symptoms are similary to Parkinsons, others are very different. Like you, I have limbs jump like you describe your leg jumping. For me it's mostly in my arms though. My arm jumping seems more like Tourrette's tics than Parkinsons.
But then my hand sometimes shakes like Parkinsons. My right index finger also likes to just tap on its own.
Mine have gotten worse since I started treatment, but really got bed when I reduced my treatment thinking we killed the Lyme.
It is really possible you started a herx. Do you have an appointment with a good LLMD? I would record your symptoms while you are on the zith. It could be helpful in your diagnosis.

My family told me I used to twitch like crazy when I slept.
Now fortunately it is just sometimes in my fingers but just when I am awake it seems ... or people stopped paying attention when I sleep.
I get a swishy feeling in my head sometimes... and it seems that this swishy sensation only happens to me when I herx (thank something).
Your not alone. You will feel better once you get a diagnosis.
So sorry to hear that you are having all of these problems. My daughter got bit when she was only 11 and has had many problems since. She is now 25. She went untreated and undiagnosed until just a year ago.
She had sore throats for years, and still does. I would take her to the local duck (what we call Dr's who are not Lyme Literate) and he would say OOOOOOO, and give her abx. She NEVER had a positive strep test!!
She also usually had a mouth and throat full of sores. Headaches and weird feelings in her head. She had all the tests and all came back "normal".
Please contact your local support group by going to the support group section and find a good LLMD.
Take care and start reading and educate yourself. With Lyme you have to be your own advocate a lot of the time.
