What is the view on allergy shots that contain a steroid. My so called llmd that I have been going to gave me an allergy shot that he said was a steroid type that would last 3 month. He gave me this because I was complaining of bad headaches and sinus pressure. He looked in my nose and said I had allergies. I have not ever been told this before. I have only been taking doxy for 7 weeks for clinical lyme. Please posts opinions.

I wouldn't take ANY steroids. I did take cortisone years ago, and both my LLMD and I think this had something to do with my symptoms flaring!
My LLMD recommends NO steroids of any sort. He does though put some patients who have no other choice on very mild steroids for a short period of time.
But if I were you, I'd probably try to stay away from them. Especially if you can take something like Claritin for the allergies.

Question I would ask is what does the doc mean by "steroid like". Might not be an actual steroid.
Plus, my LLMD gave me a cortisone shot and 3 Prednisone pills a couple of weeks ago because I was having SEVERE herx. Helped a lot - felt better than I have in 2 years. He also cautioned that this is too be used rarely and only in dire need.
I have an allergy to wasp stings - last one stung me on my hand and I swelled up like a balloon from fingertips to above my elbow. Before that I was stung on my ankle and swelled up from toes to above my knee. Like splitting skin swelling.
I was given a series of Prednisone at that time. That was way before I got Lyme but I know I'd do it again if stung.
