Hello everyone, stiffness was one of my first symptoms but lately the spine and general stiffness is almost unbearable. My shoulders are just bricks but now the spine is getting so bad I feel like I am turning to stone. Anyone tried anything that works? Any advice would be appreciated. Hope you all are well..... lymie well that is Take care mimi Posts: 343 | From usa | Registered: Dec 2004

I used a MOISTENED heating pad with pad you wet down & insert in; do this often for greatest benefit plus use frozen ICE packs on my neck, shoulder, lower back, or left groin area ... wherever the heating pad isn't on! Reverse them.

One of my early symptoms was what I called, getting stuck in one position. It was very hard to stand after sitting. My shoulders were stiff for 18 months. My hands were really stiff during the night.
This all got better with continued treatment. When I was really sick I got relief from Supported Yoga. I read about the book "Relax & Renew" here on LymeNet and bought it used on Amazon. It involves laying on the floor in simple poses supported by pillows. It really worked! hatsnscarfs

Aside from treatment, Meir Schneider's self healing exercises help me the most. You can google him to find out more. He's got tapes, books, kits, classes available.

I have used flexeril from time to time...
I think you could use it to get into a more natural state and then use the excercise programs suggested above......zman

I take Flexeril too. It makes a tremendous difference. I take it every night.
Flexeril actually relaxes muscles by impacting the neurological system. Because of this, it is more effective if you take it regularly instead of just when you need. You also get used to the medicine so you aren't as tired.
I started by taking 5mg and increased by 5mg every week until I reached 30mg. I first noticed a difference at 20mg. It took 4 weeks to get there, but was worth it.
Today I'm down to 10mg. I tried to go off it completely, but in a few weeks my back was completely stiff again.
I also do yoga regularly. I find that helps me keep things relaxed and moving. Of course, I couldn't do the yoga until the Flexeril and also months of physical therapy with somebody who specialzied in myofascial trigger point release.
