Since becoming sick 17 years ago I have had a huge fight with my weight. Only through exercising fanatically was I able to keep it in check. Since developing hyperthyroid problems I had to stop working out and now my weight is 40 pounds over where it should be - I'm 5'10" and 190 pounds - I was one of the lucky ones - when I developed hyperthyroidism I gained weight instead of losing it. I look at food and I gain weight - very frustrating.
I used to be extremely fit and it was a huge part of my life - tennis, squash, weights, running, dragon-boat racing etc - I miss those days.
Since my tick bite 10 years ago, I have gained more than 40 pounds. I gained about 20 pounds within the first 3 months of the tick bite, and 10 more since starting lyme treatment. I exercise MUCH more now and eat much less...but the pounds just aren't going anywhere. It's VERY frustrating.

certain meds have caused me to gain weight over the years.
One of them being ammoxicillin which did not even help the lyme for me.
I lost 7 pounds in 3 days after I stopped taking it.

Lyme itself can do this to our bodies. You know, azure...I remember gaining a bunch of weight from amoxy too! And it did nothing else for me!!!

I was athletic and exercised and played sports so much I got away with my ravenous appetite.
Then I got sick and gained 46 lbs. in the first two months, partly due to being dx'd with FMS and put on Elavil, but that could not have been the whole reason.
I gained another 20 lbs. in 2 mos. when a duck talked me into HRT at menopause. I stopped taking it, but the weight stayed on.
Over the 20 yrs. of my illness, I have gained 66 lbs. and am 50 lbs. overweight.
I exercise 3 days per week for an hour and do yard work, car washing, cleaning, dog grooming, etc. but the scale does not budge. I can't do any more than that due to my FMS and other time committments.
I have cut my calories in half since getting sick and dropped simple sugars years ago. Tried every diet there has ever been.
It sucks, Klutzo

60 pounds. Words cannot begin to describe the ick. Like, seriously, what a total bonus, how *fantastic* that not only am I too sick to function, I get to gain 60 pounds too! Like it's some bizarre free gift by ordering the Ginsu knives in the next five minutes....
"You've got Lyme! But WAIT! If you call within the next five minutes, we will throw in completely FREE, at NO additional charge to you, Bartonella, candida, AND obesity! But you must act now!!!! (offervalidinthecontinentalUSbabesiaanderlichiaavailableuponrequest)"
Not that I'm bitter. NoooooOOOOooo. It's not like there haven't been about 500 days where I've wished this was a wasting disease. I had to get a passport photo taken today and I look like a freaking linebacker!!!!!
Ahem.
What was I saying? Oh right...
60 pounds.

I was going to reply to this thread, but after reading Alison's "statement" I am laughing so hard that I better get to the bathroom.
