I'm not looking for a diagnosis, but if anyone else has had a similar situation, please let me know!
Like most of us, i have chronic lyme. My weight has fluctuated over the last three years due to medicine, herxs, etc. However, this always took place over months, now weeks.
Two weeks ago I weighed 142 pounds. Today, I weighed 164 pounds. My stomach is extremely distended, no pain, but plenty of exhausion. My asthma has kicked up repeatedly (coughing and wheezing).
My Dummy Dr. said that it was because i had been so sedentary for two years, and now I'm eating and starting to be able to move more. I'm a little concerned. My diet now consists of tons of raw fruit and vegetables, soy protein mix, lemonade and orange juice and water.
I am on two liters of iv fluids a day to keep me hydrated with all of the nausea that Ihave. I'm just so confused!
Anybody have any idea what's going on with me? I would deeply appreciate the advice.
In His Care,
Jenn

Doesn't sound like you are eating things that would make you gain weight and you are moving more.......
Maybe you are retaining lots of fluids from the IV? Are you puffy? Just a guess...... My daugher is on a total liquid diet right now because of the pain in her gut when she eats.
She just started Amphotericin B today and we are hoping this helps her gut. Am thinking she is full of yeast. Could you have yeast overload? But she sure hasn't gained an ounce, I wish she would gain a few lbs.
Doesn't seem as if that would make you gain so much weight in such a short period though.
I am just thinking it HAS to be water weight.
Hope someone comes along with more scientific information than I have provided.

Dad had diabetes, congestive heart failure, etc. He constantly gained weight like this... fluid around the lungs and heart for him!
They'd remove it in the hospital. Are you a diabetic? He'd take water pills also.

What medications are you taking? Do you have alot of fluid retention? I would cut down on the fruit juices because they feed yeast and can make you bloated and crave sugars.

I have a soy allergy that I developed as an adult. I have to use a whey protein powder mix and steer clear from anything soy. This could possibly be your problem. From my personal experience, this could be the cause of your abdominal distention/weight gain.
Also, if your stomach is distended, maybe your body is finding it difficult to digest all of those raw foods. I understand "raw" is good for you, but it's also more difficult to digest. If your intestines are inflamed from eating allergens, or from antibiotics(for whatever reason), it will be difficult for your body to digest anything "raw". Cooked veggies might be good for you right now.
Also, when I read that you're drinking orange juice and lemonade daily, that seems very acidic to me. Drinking those each day would throw my stomach off, personally.

I have had a very similar situation happen to me. Over the last four years my weight has flucuated between 93 and 135lbs.
I was diagnoised with lyme in June and I believe i've had it for about 10 years.
When i first started treatment i gained 25 pounds in three weeks. It took me about 6 months and then I started to lose weight. I only lost 10 pounds but the werid thing is that when I gained the weight I was working out all the time and on a 1200 calorie diet because obviously I was concerned about the weight gain. When I lost the weight I wasn't really working out at all and eating healthy but definately over 1200 cal.
My doctors of course said that they thought I looked "healthy" and that my body was just trying to find it's really weight. Since I vommitted everything I ate for 8 months and I was eating and keeping down food it was natural for me to have weight gain.
We still haven't figured out why I gained and lose weight but maybe this will shed some light on your situation.

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."
Five Steps to Candida Elimination:
1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.
2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]
3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]
4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]
5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

Have you had your thyroid checked?
The soy would be bad for your thyroid.
Also, you might want to cut back on the fruit aka sugar.

Thanks for all the imput. I didn't realize sugar from fruits was bad. I've cut out refined sugar, but I guess I will have to do more.
Now I can at least go back to my doctor and ask a few more questions.
THANKS Y'ALL
Jenn
