I was wondering if you guys would list what you used for intitial Babs treatment? (Or even what you wish you had used.)

Meds, dosages, length of treatment... if you wouldn't mind.

Short and sweet would be the best; I'm going to write them all on post-its and throw a dart at them tomorrow night. [Big Grin]

I'm due to start treatment soon and want to get an idea what's typical, as if anything with this is, hahahaha.

(If asking this type of question is inappropriate please just scroll on by. I'm going back and re-reading all the Mepron Buddy threads in the meantime.)

Thanks in advance!
trueblue

ps. the winner of the contest gets to hear me whine about treatment once I start. Now, who could really pass up a chance like that? [Razz]

edited to add: I'm allergic to Sulfa.

I'm just starting my 2nd month of Mepron. I take a tsp in the morning and a tsp in the evening. It is helping, it is gross and it is expensive.

My LLMD said we would try 3 months and talk again.

I also take Ketek for Lyme.

I was put on quinine ( it makes your ears roar!) and clindamycin - or is it clintamyacin - whatever. Don't remember dosages - WAY too sick. But it did stop the main babs symptoms like night sweats and general "I'm dying and I don't care" feeling. I think I was on quinine for 3 weeks and clinda for a month. Somewhere in there I was on doxy twice in the first 6 months.....

Artemisinin at 600mg a day for two weeks. Then two weeks off. Then 1200mg a day for 3 days, then two weeks off. Then Artemisia annua at 1200mg a day for two weeks. Then quit.

Now I started Artemisia annua today, at 600mg a day for two weeks.

MUST take Red Root with Artemesinin or Artemisia annua to cleanse your Lymph system.

Thank you for your input... lucy, dharma, mag, Carol and Jimbob!

And thanks for pulling up the additional threads for me Carol.

I'm still confused as heck. I'll keep reading and see what I can pull together.

I may have forgotten to mention the positive was for b.microti. (if that matters)

Initially I was considering Ketek, Mepron and Artemesininininin. I thought pulsed but am still unsure. I have difficulty clearing toxins.

Am I right in assuming you add these one at a time as you go? Sorry to sound so confused, but I am, and don't feel confident my doc will have a better grasp on it. So I'd like to at least go in with a plan.

dharma - it IS the quinine that does that ear roaring thing. I once took a dose of Leg-a trin (or something that was just quinine) it was so loud I thought I would go crazy.

Jimbo ~ I will do some reading on the Red Root, again, but seem to remember there was a reason I couldn't take it, but perhaps i'm mis-remembering it.
