Hi all,

I went to see LLMD in PA on 4/25, took blood for lyme test to be sent to Igenex lab, and began 500mg amoxicillin 2 capsules four times at day (4,000mg a day) and took home urine collection kit for 3, 5 and 7 day collection after beginning antibiotic. And this was sent to Igenex also. (He thought some of my symptoms could possibly be lyme, and the fact that I had developed POTS since not feeling well)

Does this sound ok? Is this a safe amount of antibiotic to take. I think he said if I need to continue, you check blood every other month to see if any harm is being done?

It's been eight days since starting antibiotic, todays day 9. Yesterday and today I have been horriblely dizzy and am having neck pain. Not a major headache but a headache radiating from base of back of neck. Finger joints hurt worse than usual too. Is this related? Before this started yesterday I was feeling a bit better that usual, (day 5,6 and 7)

Have you heard of a herx?

A herx is when your current symtpoms get worse, old ones come back, or you get new symptoms.

This is caused by the lyme keets dying... it makes you kinda toxic hence the increased sickness.

In my expereince as a lyme patient this is what I think it is.

Best wishes

It sounds like a herx to me as well.

i will share what happens to me when i start abx.

I usually feel much better during days 1-3 then around day 4 i wake up with a very sore neck..the sore neck is what tells me i am herxing.

Make sure you keep track of your symptoms...right them down each day in a journal...or some use a symtom chart. After a few months of treatment you probably will start to see a pattern develop with your herxes.

Its good that your dr will be checking your blood. This will check to see that everything is OK, such as liver and kidney functions.
