I have been on Rocephin IV for two weeks and last night, towards the end of the infusion, I experienced severe lower back pain.
The pain then traveled up my spine. After administering the medication, I laid down for a half hour at which time I felt better.
About an hour after that, I experienced uncontrollable shaking throughout my body.
My hands, legs arms everything was shaking.
It appeared similar to that of people with parkinsons. Has anyone felt this type of reaction.
I called the doctor and he told me to not infuse the medication until Monday when I could speak to my regular doctor.

Hi Devan,
So sorry for the painful event...that must have been frightening.
This really doesn't sound like a typical allergic reaction...nor does it sound like a side effect of the med itself.
It does, however sound like the odd symptoms that are part and parcel of having this illness. I have had the shaking and fleeting severe pains many times.
I am pleased that you are taking a break until you can speak with your doc.
You might consider lengthening the time of infusion. Many do much better with a slower rate.
My best, Melanie
