my urine has been cloudy the last couple of days...only at night though, i drink a lot of water and take a lot of vitamins throughout the day so it is usually clear in the daytime. but at night it is cloudy. has anyone ever experienced this? i am worried it is my kidneys...

and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you use the search function and check for "cloudy urine" you will find that many have this problem.

As far as I know nobody really found out what causes this. I had this too, sometimes and had my kidneys checked recently: they are just fine.

Pru,
How are you doing with this?

When I worked in nursing, cloudy urine often meant an infection.

Have you had a fever?
Any pain?

I bought a bottle of urine test strips, with ten different tests per strip.
One of them is for white cells, which would show infection.

save urine specimens in sterile containers by perhaps midstream catch.

find out from a lab how to store, whether chilled or frozen in frig.

save for future analyses, if request for rejection is denied; or, get a new doc to have analysis done.

one of my urninalysis found epithelial tissue.

many spec. of my urine cloudy.

certain anaylses require storage at various temps, for maximal accuracy and reliability.

bromelain is supposed to be helpful for some kidney problems, and i found this to be so with a "kidney herx" form ceftin(oral form); it quelled pain, and other Sx by 90%. took one capX 500mg, then another of same dose 15-30 min. later.
no specific rationale for this other than the general statment by a radio-pharmacist, a real one who knows alt./comple. medical approaches.

this statement on bromelain, would imply that a multi-enzyme prep. would be better, but check with someone who would know enzyme applications across medical specialties.

bromelain in high doses for a long time might not be wise, the reason(s) for which momentarily escape me. but general lit. on enzymes suggest frequent small doses of bromelain and other enyzmes is best approach.

bromelain intake > 500mg will, at some point in time will induce tnf-a production, thereby increasing inflammation by one route. tnf-a is already high in borreliosis; however, in acute conditions with the kidney short term high dose bromelain would seem o.k. bromelain < 500mg., total daily dose does not promote increased tnf-a production. tnf-a is a pro-inflamm. cytokine.

Many medications also have different affects on the appearance of urine! Check that possibility too. You could always get a U/A Urinalysis doen to check.
