I have a very important question. Can you please tell me what the side effects of DOXY you experienced were? PLEASE NOTHING ABOUT SUNBURN, I know about that.
I have a gripping tightness in my throat and have eaten very little today. It is getting worse almost like pre-nausea.
Please share all et al.

John.

I had stomach pain and nausea BEFORE I started herbs last November. Then added Tetracycline and it got MUCH worse. Quit that after 28 days, Just herbs for seven more days, got somewhat better.

Then I went on Doxy with the herbs, and it wasn't too bad the first week, but got really bad by the second week. It kept getting worse and worse. Finally I couldn't take it any more, and quit after 24 days.

I went just on the herbs then and it got somewhat better, but not real good. Finally I added some C-Salts from nutri.com. These are effervescent Vitamin C plus zinc, potassium, etc.. After a few days on this plus the herbs and my stomach got much, much better.

To this day my stomach is real good.

I still have over one bottle of doxy, but won't take it. Don't want to go through that again.

The herbs help you get well without the bad side effects. Plus the C-Salts are important as it is important to take vitamin C with Lyme and you can't take the high doses usually with regular ascorbic acid. It is very hard on the stomach.

Doxy can be very hard on the stomach. Some tolerate tetra better or then biaxin. They are all similar abx.

Lost, whaddya mean, you've eaten 'very little' today?

Yikes!

You've got to pad that tummy before you put Doxy in it!

Doxy is a heave-maker!

Eat something first. (Stay away from milk.) Then take your doxy. Try and drink a glass of water with the doxy to wash it down.

Then be sure and DON'T LIE DOWN for a while, even if you're feeling slightly nauseous and lying down sounds inviting.

Sit back in an easy chair if you feel nauseated until it passes.

I know the feeling you're talking about.

Some food beforehand will make this better and your system will get accustomed to the doxy and give you less trouble, the more you take it.

Hang in there!!!

Michelle

If you don't drink enough water with the pill it can get stuck in your throat and cause irritation or an ulcer in your esophagus(this happened to me once and I had trouble swallowing food). Always take it with food, otherwise you will get nausea and stay sitting for 30 min after you take it to prevent esophageal irritation. Hope this helps.

LOTS OF NAUSEA, can be fixed by eating a meal (yeah whole meal)when you take the doxy and remember not to include any dairy with the doxy meal; can lower the doxy potency.

You don't want to throw up doxy, it burns like h...... your esophagus on the way out. Happened twice to me is ......misery, beyond descriptive words.

I only tolerate doxy for 5 months, my tummy said no more, LLMD said when "the body says no more doxy, you got to listen to it"; so he switched me to something else. I was on 400 mg/day, I am a very small person and I was also taking at the time zithro-mepron-artemesia.

I got the nausea as well......but worse was a red rash on my face while I was on it.

I'm on Biaxin right now....no side effects to speak of.

Good luck!

I had some nausea with it, but THAT was NOT the bad part. The bad part was the tremendous PAIN in my stomach with it. I just got so I could not stand the pain anymore and HAD to stop.

My local doctor told me one time that the Doxy was supposed to be easier on the stomach than the Tetracycline, THAT is why the doxy was made.

I do have a bottle of Amoxycillin here that I have not opened yet. I was going to take it for a month, but got too afraid when I had such pain with the doxy and tetracycline. I also have Bactrim, but scared to take it too with the side effects it can give you. (Even death for some).

I do feel much better on the herbs. No pain at all in the stomach now. A little pain in the left leg calf and knee, but not bad.

Otherwise pretty good now.

Doxy made me nauseated & made my stomach burn, Sometimes tightness in chest with the burning.

I ALWAYS took it with food (at least 1/2 meal) before taking it, and lots of water every single time no matter what. Never lie down within hour of taking it.

I switched to tetracycline and had no stomach trouble at all. It also worked much better, cleared my brain fog & started my recovery.

I had no trouoble with Biaxin & Plaquenil either except for the first 2 days the first time I took it.

I also went on anti yeast diets and take probiotics every day. I just posted more details abouot that in the coated tongue post.

Started Doxy a few days back. I take probiotics before lunch and take doxy after meals. Today delayed taking doxy and had swelling of the throat and shortness of breath. Do have a lot of redness of the eyes though. Doc prescribed Opcon A, which did not help. Just rinsing the eye with spring water helps.

I have to take it after a full meal, or it won't stay down. Sometimes the nausea will subside if I drink a carton of milk right as it starts. Of course, you then have to take the doxy over again, as milk neutralizes it.

But speaking of sunburn, I've been able to reverse a lot of sun damage with two products.

Mexoryl SPF60 sunblock which gives nearly 100% UVA/UVB protection...

www.canadapharmacy.com

... and Atopalm lotion for rosacea...

www.skinstore.com

I started using both about a month ago. Now my neck is pure white, my non-sunblocked chest is still bright red, and my face has actually lightened a couple of shades. If you aren't into mexoryl, the other UVA blocker is avobenzone, it just degrades faster.
