I have taken 2 courses of Diflucan, 30 days each, over the last few months. I have noticed a thinning of my hair on top and a receding hairline at the sides.
I thought at first that it might be the effects of low hormone levels because I am menopausal right now. My LLMD thinks it might be the Diflucan.
Has anyone had this happen to them while on Diflucan?
Thanks.

I would call the pharmacist to see if it a potential side effect of diflucan.
I don't know if you are aware but Lyme disease can cause hairloss.
You just solved a mystery for me. Last year I was taking Diflucan (had to stop because of liver count) and my hair was falling out a lot more than the norm. I was beginning to really get worried.
It happened the whole time I was on Diflucan. Since I've stopped, the hair loss has stopped.

I'm on Fluconazole, dailyt since 3/05 with a couple of breaks. Don't notice any hair loss. Had hairloss with Ketek and Tinidizol (shed like a dog).

Hair loss for me? Yup. I've been on Diflucan for months.
But it's one of those "hair splitting" questions. Is it the Candidiasis, Lyme, Bart, Babs or some other wierd thing my body is entertaining? Even the chronicity of inflammation will do it. Nutritional deficiencies caused by inability to absorb nutrients...
I'm on a boatload of hormones...not just the estrogens or testosterone, but cortisone and thyroid.
I don't know.
What I do know is as long as I have one hair, I will keep the red dye bottle in hand. A big smile and fiery red hair...it will all work out.
