It's going, going, not quite gone.... Too much pain, to little patience. Called my surgeon this morning (a Lyme Literate one), and they're removing my gallbladder, and, a gallstone that has been "incompletely measured" at 2cm. Thank you Rocephin!!! Once again, I feel your wrath.
I don't really care. There are some LLMDs that believe that Lyme "chills"o out in the gallbladder. One less place for these little buggers to hide.
I really want to donate it to a Lyme research facility so they can get their hands in and play.

Good for you!!!
My gallbladder is too cute to give up yet, but this is the last wednesday that my right ovary will every know! It is leaving this body on Monday! bye bye ovary!
I feel about my ovary as you do about your gallbladder...too much pain for too little gain and not enough patience!
Bummer is that I also have stones and URQ pain....I am trying to treat with actigall (again) but dont know how it will go.
Congrats on being clear about which path you need to take!
I dont know about research, but MDL can send you a biopsy package so your surgeon can send a biopsy of your gallbladder to be tested by PCR for Lyme. I know, it is another crap shoot, but I am hopeful that I will win the PCR lottery this time!!! It is $90 without insurance and maybe less if you have some good insurance.
PM me if you need more info.
WHen's the surgery?

Goodluck AP with your surgury.
I am also facing a decision on the GB front. Not an easy one to make.
I believe you can have tissue samples sent to "medical Diagnostic labs" for testing for lyme & co's .Their # is 609-570-1000

I also lost my previously perfectly healthy GB to Rocephin.
The surgery really wasn't so bad.
Mine was sent to MDL for testing, and the hospital made me mail it myself ... can you imagine? Straight from recovery to DHL.
Good luck, AP. I'd raise a glass to toast your GB's voyage, except of course we can't drink.

Best of luck with the surgery!! I too would like to see your GB sent for testing-that would be interesting to find out the results. All the best!!!

It's gone!!! I had it taken out yesterday AM and the surgery was rather uneventful.
My boyfriend was able to run to my LLMDs while I was in surgery (just down the street) and pick up a packet for MDL. DHL picked up the tissue sample last night, and should be delivering it in the next couple hours.
I feel great! Of course I am in pain, but minor compared to some of my more intense gallbladder attacks, and they gave me some good stuff to manage the pain.
This morning I get to go in to have my PICC line put back in.

AP,
I'm really glad the surgery itself went well. Just take it easy during the (pretty nominal) recovery period.
My GB was an early Lyme casualty -- pre-diagnosis. The pain just became overwhelming. Plus, I turned bright bright yellow. The docs didn't give me a choice.
It was my very first time in a hospital. Coming out of the anaesthesia was horrible for me; in fact, they said they almost lost me on the table. But I've had few post-surgical problems and was out and walking soon after I was released from the hospital.
Unlike some others have posted, I have had problems with certain foods -- really rich cheese and or cream sauces, specifically. I almost never have food like this, though, so for me, it hasn't really been a loss or a problem.
I wish you a good recovedry and trails a good upcoming surgery.
Andie
