Hello, I have had lyme one month, three days ago all of a sudden my back got real itchy and I had 3 raised red bumps on my back. They are bright red.I am sure I have at least one coinfection I just can't be tested untill I have been off the antibiotics for 6 weeks.
This stuff is enough to drive a sane person crazy

When they start itching, my hubby found the perfect solution for me ... use RUBBING ALCOHOL good & especially on the outside corners.
Helps itching & rash doesn't last as long as before. I've tried every rx med for the itchy rash & OTC, nothing works.

Hi Robin- could it be a reaction to an antibiotic that you're on? Just a thought- as I had a rash from Bicillin LA injections...I was also allergic to Biaxin and had a rash as a result-
If it's really itchy- try using an after sun cream that numbs the skin...worked for me!

I'm new around here... Here's my Lyme history: I had a rash when I got back from Sweden last August 2005 - I live near the beach in Southern California - my dermatologist didn't recognize the rash. I didn't start (3 weeks) on Dioxycyline until 14 weeks after the bite. Then, after reading more... and having all sorts of bizarre 'allergic' reactions -I did another 4 weeks of the antibiotic - just 'to be on the safe side'...
Your experiences sound similar to mine... I have had issues with unpredictable swelling on the face (lips - makes me look like a monkey!) on the arms, legs, etc... small very itchy , rosy little bumps (anywhere from a quarter of an inch to an inch) that only last about 3-4 hours or so and that can pop up just about anywhere... anytime... very weird...
I started getting this the first week after the bite, before I came down with a week-long 'flu-like illness' before the rash appeared. So, it was really the first symtoms I ever had. Does this sound familiar to anyone? An autoimmune thing? What the heck is going on? It's driving me nuts!

If you scroll down to photos you'll find many varieties. My son who has PCR confirmed Bart, has a recurring rash (for years - but much less now) that resembles the one in Photo 5, on the child's arm. It is very itchy and when he was younger spread almost all over his body. Now, after years of tx he has infrequent episodes. It does seem to have inflammatory qualities and we use very small amounts of a steroid topical cream and Benadryl- which seems to mitigate the outbreak.
