My Derm. told me recently that I have a case of melasma. Does anyone know if this could be connected with lyme?
Does anyone also know if Tri-Luma cream (medicine face cream to treat melasma) is bad for lyme? I only used it for about a week and a hlaf then stopped because I didn't wasn't sure how this would affect my lyme.
Also I wasn't sure what the cream could do to me adrenal glands if I happen to have a problem there.

I developed melasma at the age of 26. I did not contract lyme until 20 years later.
There seems to be a correlation with melasma and a high copper-to-zinc ratio in the body. This can be caused by an inherited metallothionein disorder (enzyme disorder causing improper use of metals by the body), which I have, or it may be due to a self-inflicted imbalance as in tghe case of vegetarianism with insufficient zinc supplementation.
Google "Biamonte and copper" for an informative overview of the typical person's experience with high copper.
I had my problem diagnosed at the Pfeiffer Treatment Center outside Chicago. (http://www,hriptc.org) Treatment for high copper/low zinc, which consists primarily of zinc supplementation, resolved the melasma for me. Since I have a metallothionein disorder, constant maintenance is required.
