Hi Jif,

Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. How long have you been treated?

3 of us have lyme and co-infections. 2 have done IV and I have not.

The IV has been helpful for my kids. That said, I am of the opinion that working with orals for a time first can be a good thing to see if you can kick it that way.

Some people are so ill that it is best to go straight to IV as their symptoms are so debilitating it must be addressed more aggressively. Not sure where you are at severity wise. The tremor sounds serious, but I am not a dr, of course.

IV can be great. You have to watch out for infections, which can be stressful and time-consuming. Also, IMO you would need someone to take care of you during initial IV course as herx can be so dramatic.

All that said; The thing that stands out to me is that your Dr. "can't do the IV". Why is that?

You need a lyme literate dr. that can oversee a variety of treatments. You don't want to have your treatment compromised by dr's limitations.

For us, the inconvenience and expense of travel to see one of the experts has been more than worth it. I wish we had gone that route from the get go.

Best Wishes,

Char
