hey all..

i haven't commented in a while, i just got my computer back from best buy repairs.

i went to the doctor yesterday with a gland in my neck the size of a golf ball, my right tonsil swollen and covered with pus, body aches and a 103 fever. .

i have strep!!

i'm on 875 mg. amoxicillin, twice daily for 10 days.

i still don't know if i have lyme..igeneX results stated as negative-- here are the results..

IgM

30 +
39 IND
41 IND
45 +
58 +
66 +
83-93 IND

IgG

39 IND
41 +

rest are negative..

strep is the worst, guys.. my head is pounding...and i hate the fever.. especially when it breaks and you sweat the night away..

have any of you suffered from strep infections with lyme..i know lyme lowers the immune system's threshold for sickness..

i really need to see an LLMD and find out what is wrong.

any comments on my igeneX results would be sincerely appreciated.

Michelle

I have had had lyme disease for 18 years and kept most of my symtoms at bay until I contracted strep throat 4 times in a month period. My immune system took a nose dive afterwards. Three months later the borrelia took over and I started to get really sick. Latest research shows borrelia feeds off of strep...

You have Borrelia specific bands. Many LLMDs would take the clinical symptoms and the results of this test and treat further. You should ABSOLUTELY also have tested for all coinfections.

hey michelle,

so sorry to hear that you are so sick. Just keep drinking fluids and getting plenty of rest. The lyme gets worse with any additional infections.

Based on your results i would say that you were exposed to lyme. You have many lyme specific bands.

I had a urine culture done and they found strep.

Read this when you feel a little better. It may be difficult to absorb right now.

Sorry you're sick [Frown]

Before I was diagnosed with Lyme, I would get super abx resistant throat infections whenever I got over tired/over stressed.

My throat glands would get so swollen, it looked like I had the mumps. Tonsills would just about be touching each other on the inside.

Finally discovered that Ceftin did a great job for these if I stayed on it long enough.

pru, sorry to read how sick you are! Hope your fever breaks soon and you are back on the road to lyme recovery! [Big Grin]

Glad you got your IGX western blots back. I agree with the rest.

Tutu is great on giving her great link explaining what the WB numbers stand for.
