Help! So I'm posted yesterday about ear pressure and head pressure, and a few ppl mentioned that it might be Babesiosis (thank you folks). I was tested by Igenix twice (the last time was 3 wks ago or so), and both times it came up negative. I've certainly read a lot that says that the test often is neg when people are really positive--I know Dr. B's guidelines point out that there are 13 strains of Babesiosis, and the test only covers a few strains.
I spoke w/ my LLMD today, and she said it sounds like Babesiosis, and is going to treat me w/ Artimesinan. I know that it's an herb with fairly low liver toxicity. She said there should be no herxing from it, but that I should just feel better and better. Is this RIGHT?? I've read over and over that tx for Babs is really tough. Could it be that this simple herb will make the difference for me? What are other ppl's protocols? Was anyone else dx'd just from ear pressure and pain, but w/ a negative test? What is the typical babs protocol? I know that many do Mepron, which is SOOO expensive, with azithromycin.
I would appreciate ANY thoughts or suggestions! Thank you!

Artimisinin will not get rid of it by itself, but it's a good adjunct for the Mep/Zith combo. How well Art works for you will depend on how you use it. Since it works by oxidation, It's effectiveness is greatly reduced by antioxidants and Milk Thistle. This would include Vit C, E, ALA, selenium and others. It also needs to be taken away from food...1 hr before, or 2 hrs afterwards. Taking it with a little oil like Borage helps it to be absorbed better.

What tests did you have through Igenex for the Babs? Did you have the IGM/IGG and the FSH? Mine first showed up in the FSH tests. Then it actually started showing up in regular Babs tests through Quest Labs(which I couldn't beleive.)
I was and after a short break am still on the Mepron/Zithromax /Art combo. If you have had this disease for a while it is very hard to get rid of. They didn't find it in me until 3 years after the original Lyme diagnosis. My head pains were severe. Treatment does help it.
