Hey,

How did you like this combo? Did you have to start slowly and work your way up?

Did you make progress?

I had some issues with it at the start of it, then stopped. LLMD said if I would have stuck it out, I would be feeling better now.

Did it effect your sleep at first?

Any info would be great!

Thanks,

I was on this combo, along with doxy, to start with. I developed a rash after about 3 months and have been slowly going back on. So far I'm back on the biaxin and will probably add the plaquenil this week. It was working well until the rash developed.
I would not have noticed any sleep problems as I have always had them.

Not much help there. My hubby is on the same combo - which doesn't seem to be working as well as the tetra he was on before. The doc took him off that for the summer months as he works outside.

I did this regimen and I recall the Biaxin had me waking up with REALLY bad breath...metallic taste in my mouth. About a half hour after taking it my head would hurt a little, etc. I took Plaquenil non-stop for a year and never had any issue with that.
I know at one point I did the Biaxin 4 days on, 3 off. Your LLMD will have some thoughts about how to calm down the herx if you have some...they recommend lots of lemon water, etc.
Hope this helps!

Thanks,
Rick

Hi - I did biaxin, plaquenil and flagyl for 6 months until I started to bruise...at that time I stopped the biaxin and plaquenil and kept on the flagyl....don't know if it helped or not - was pretty much homebound the whole time I did it.. I didn't backslide, though! Am now on rocephin and doing better.

good luck, deb

Hey there,

I am on this protocol now, rotating it every 10 days with quinine and clindamycin(sp?). I felt wonderful for the first 3 weeks on this protocol, and on week 4, I herxed hard. I was able to handle the full dosage at first, but I think I'm going to start pulsing.

Wishing Wellness,
Jewl

Hi,

I did zithromax and plaquenil for seven months. Biaxin gave me mouth sores, thus we used zithromax instead. Zithromax and biaxin can be used interchangeably when treating Lyme Disease.

At that time, I was experiencing great difficulty sleeping at night. I don't think I could honestly say if it was a result of the meds or not. However, I did find that the plaquenil caused me to be more dizzy and off balance.

Unfortunately, this drug combination did not help me. At the end of seven months, I was more sick than I was prior to starting these meds. So, we then switched me over to IV Rocephin for 5.5 months.

Presently, I am taking zithromax, minocycline, and diflucan daily and pulsing flagyl nine days on and five days off. For some reason this protocol is yielding slow, but steady progress. If I do the flagyl less than this, I don't get as good a result. We are not able to increase the flagyl duration because at the end of nine days let's just say it isn't pretty, lol.

Truth be told, flagyl has done and still is doing more for me than plaquenil ever did.

Wishing you all the best,
Debbie/RI

I did this regimen early on in treatment. The Biaxin caused an increase in pain in my legs, particularly burning in my thighs and hips. I eventually switched to Levaquin.

The plaquenil helped reduce my pain and stiffness in my hands and wrists though. I'm still taking it, 2 years later.

The combo has worked well for me. I did it 6 months last summer and am on my 2nd month this time around.

It changed my sleep pattern right away. I was going to bed earlier and waking up earlier last year. This year I find I wake up during the night more than before. Since going on P&B I sleep slightly propped up with an extra pillow. Laying totally flat makes me feel very strange so I don't.

This combo reduced swelling and water weight. My weight is much more stable. It gave me a bad taste last year more than this year.

The first time I was on it it brought out all kind of symptoms including knee pain, strange numb patches in legs, sciatica, rib pain, chest pain... This year much less reaction. The symptoms would get severe & then suddenly disappear.

It makes my energy level much more stable throughout the day. I'm more productive. This is a good combo for me & easier than tetra.
