fatigue turns your legs to cement
Muscle weakness clearly interferes with walking.

For hubby fatigue makes his legs either rubbery or stiff -- never know which way it will effect him. He has varying degrees of ataxia. Sometimes walks with a Parkinsonian shuffle.

When things were there worst I would have to lift his feet so he could step up onto curbs or go up steps. Hasn't been this bad for the last couple of years thank goodness.

He has normal muscle strength and usually can walk 2 or 3 miles in the mornings, but the afternoons and evenings are a totally different story.

Babesia treatment has seemed to help the most with leg weakness.

I have this - especially when I'm herxing. It hurts to sit, but hurts more to get up and walk around. Can't win. Epsom salt baths help.

I have experienced this also. At its worst, I have had my whole body feel completely drained and at other times I have had only one leg feel heavy or tired. It varies greatly.

I am currently experiencing more symptoms than I did when I first posted on this board in the beginning of June.

Yes, muscle weakness in my legs was one of my first Lyme symptoms. I had been a power walker prior to Lyme, but once symptoms hit I could barely walk a few feet.

With treatment, my muscle strength has improved but muscle pain still interferes with walking.

I used to walk three miles a day at lunch time.

Now I make it around one block on sheer determination-if I'm going to make it back to that recliner I have to keep going.

I'm also gaining weight-UGH. I have this perverse reward system going on. Poor me- I have lyme disease-of course I can eat whenever I get up from my latest nap.

increased calories/decreased exercise-not a good mix. How to be more self-disciplined? Hope I can correct this pattern soon. [dizzy]

Carol

Oh yeah - most definitely had that when I first
was realizing something was wrong with me. It was very scary and of course I thought I had ALS. I had a dead leg - I could not climb stairs. Both legs fatigued alarmingly with any use. I am young and athletic!!! It was lyme. It went away with abx treatment.

Wow! thanks lyme x 9! You just made a lightbulb go off. Before I knew I had lyme I always felt worse at Walmart. I hate that store anyway (no offense sorry to anyone) but my kid loves it. So I would just suffer when I went to Walmart. I almost had anxiety attacks my symptoms just went wild!
