I just started my 4th month of mep/zith/art for babesia and started have more night sweats and palps lately. These were subsiding until lately. Also, I feel like a lot of toxins in my body making me dizzy and off balance. My urine appears darker in the mornings too. Wonder what is going on...anyone else with similar experiences?

Are you keeping up some kind of treatment for lyme too? Lyme and Babs together are much worse than either alone. DaveSPosts: 4567 | From ithaca, NY, usa | Registered: Nov 2000

hey Jwenny
Some people have said they didn't herx too bad on the babs treatment but I wasn't so lucky. I had an increase in sweats, palps, depression, fatigue ect...
Make sure to let your doc know about the increase in the palps.
It is rough to feel so toxic . Drink a ton of water and whatever you can do to step up the detox may be helpful. If you do a search here there is a mountain of information on detox.
P.s. It took over a month-even when I stopped the meds to clear the herx. It was worth the suffering for me becuase for now I no longer have the sweats, fever & chill. First time in 20 years!
Hang in there and hope you can feel better soon

The hubby also had a return of sweats, muscle pain, joint pain, brainfog, and headache after completing yet another round of babesia tx.
Within a few days of treating for viruses using Valtrex, many sx, including sweats, vastly reduced, and he had a particularly noticeable improvement in mood and cognitive function.
He's still taking LD and babs meds, as well, until all sx are gone. Seems to have beaten back the other coinfections.
Viruses are well worth checking out and treating. It seems as if this last babs relapse, which was a very bad one, may have depressed his immune system enough to allow the viruses (as far as we know, based on IgG and IgM, HHV1 &2, CMV, possible hhv6) to run amok.

That is interesting that it could be a virus. I almost feel like my body is trying to expel something. I've been drinking so much water each day... from morning to night my weight increases 7 pounds.

OK, this is what my doctor told me. When the babs infection is really entrenched and bad, people will herx heavily in the fourth month. He said it just takes that long to penetrate into the tissues for a heavy infection. This happened to me. Heavy herx the fourth month and much better by the sixth month.

Dana, I try to drink green tea and eat blueberries but have to admit I haven't been the most disciplined on keeping up. But thanks for the advice on Danelion tea and Tincup's recipes.
Surg, I really hope this is the month 4 herx and things will get better in next few months. But since I've started this protocol there hasn't been much relief...almost feels like this torture will never end. I do appreciate you sharing your experiences as this is really unchartered territory for me... THANKS!
