Hi fellow San Diegan (in a town where the doctors say Lyme disease doesn't exist!!)
AST is often called SGOT, and ALT is SGPT. It's very confusing because different labs seem to use different terminology.
Now I use the same internist to run my liver enzyme tests so I can compare more easily from test to test - also, my insurance at least will pay a little bit of it.
I looked on my insurance bill. At Scripps here in San Diego, the hepatic function panel is billed at $61.00, but since it's a preferred provider for my insurance, I end up paying about $20.00. I don't know what the standard cash price is. You might call LabCorp and find out what they charge.
