Let me just say a couple things before i get to my questions. Or you can just skip to the questions.
1.) If anyone is reading this and not sure if they have lyme disease. I think thats enough of a thought to go get tested if you can. After years and years of weird symtpoms that lots of doctors would just scratch there heads at and basically make me feel like i was going crazy, i finnaly got tested. And although its not confirmed yet i did come back with the Borrelio (if thats the name of it) antibody.
2.) and hello to all of you and thanks for taking the time to read this.
So, ill try and keep this short.
So that test came back positive. The doc said he was waiting on another test to see if i was recently infected or if i have it for some time. Anyhow, he wants me to come in on Wendsday and they are going to put a 'tap' into my arm and im to come in each day for them to put in whatever they are going to put in to fight it. Well, ive been reading this board and from your personal experiences, i havent read anyone doing a 2 week treament. Does this sound right to you? I think my doc is competant but maybe not in Lyme. Do you have any input on this? Things/paperwork you could point me to that i can point him too? I really want to get better IF this is what is causing me so many problems so i would like to 'help' the best i can and get some info on what the best plan of attack is.
Another question. Anyone know anyone who got tremors from this disease and were succesfully treated? And if so, did the tremors go away or atleast reduce? How about tingling numbness, carpell tunnel like, in the hands and foot. Does that go away?
And thats all i got for starters.
You know its sad when you hope you have this (that being me) so you're able to put your finger on it and do something about it. Ive been tested for MS twice in that past 4 years. They are probably going to test me again soon though as they set up an appoint. with a neorologist tomorrow before the tests came back for the borellio.
Oh well, thats all an aside.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks Hal

Sorry it took so long for you to get diagnosed. after having lyme for so long and having the amount of symptoms you describe, I think it is very unlikely that 2 weeks of antibiotics will do anything, much less cure you.
Many people on this board have been treated for a very very long time..some get cured, some get better and some do not....
well keep positive...now you know what is wrong, that is a first step toward getting better.

We can only give you our opinion- only an LLMD can truly answer your questions, and I repeat ONLY AN LLMD CAN TRULY ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS. IMHO-two weeks is only the beginning of treatment. Carol

Hal,
As far as I know there is no titer for finding out when you were infected.
You really need to check the newbie links to get an in depth education.
The tremors will at least lessen with treatment and time...the other symptoms will lessen or go away completely...
And then again you may get new symptoms...
Two weeks is definitely NOT enough time or medication.
If your doctor is serious about this disease have him check in with the ILADS foundation or Dr Burascano's guidlines for treating this disease.
Good luck......zman PS Break up your posts so it's easier to read...some on this site have neuro-lyme symptoms and have great difficulty reading big blocks of sentances......thanks

Only two things are important for you right now. 1. A lyme and co-infections dx.
2. Treatment with abx and probotics untill all symptoms are gone for 2-3 months.
If you do not have a doctor who will treat untill the symptoms are gone, keep looking till you find one that will.

Hi Hal, Welcome to LymeNet. Sorry you've had these problems, but glad you found this website.
I don't have a medical background, but will share my opinions and what I've learned from my experiences with Lyme.
It sounds as if you were positive on the ELISA (a screening test) & your dr is waiting for results of the Western Blot test. When the results come back, get copies of both tests to keep in your file.
Since you've had "years & years of weird symptoms," it's possible that your WB will not have enough bands for a positive result. This can happen with long term illness.
Also, the lab used can affect the results. There are only a few labs that specialize in testing for Tick-Borne Diseases (TBDs).
Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, with test results being only a part of the information. The LDF brochure "Tick-Spread Diseases" says: "No test can definitely 'rule-out' Lyme disease."
Go to www.ilads.org & click "Brochures" Print "What You Need To Know About ILADS & Lyme Disease" # 5-8 facts about testing #12 begins - "There has never been a study demonstrating that 30 days of antibiotic treatment cures chronic Lyme disease."
Print "Diag Hints & Treatment Guidelines..." at www.ilads.org/burrascano_0905.html It's 33 pages of excellent info written by one of the best LLMDs (Lyme Literate Med Drs). page 17: Antibiotic Choices & Doses page 19: Treatment Categories
If you think your dr would be willing to read it, give him a copy along with the ILADS brochure.
You need to be evaluated by a LLMD - ASAP. Go to "Seeking a Dr" & put your location in the title. Info will be sent to you in your PMs. Most people have to travel to see a LLMD.
You're fortunate that your dr would consider Lyme as a diagnosis. It's possible he will be willing to work with a LLMD. Lots of advantages to that. Your dr would learn from a dr with lots of experience with LD & it would save you time & expense of traveling.
The best results come from the Lyme patient & the dr working together to fight this disease.

yes, go to TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE LINKS and print off his list of links so you have an idea what all is in there. He updates monthly or when he has enough new stuff.
In his links is Dr. B's 06 lyme treatment guidelines; print it off as someone else said.
Welcome, I'm in Minn. going to my LLMD appt. in an hour. When I get home, I'll send you some newbie links also.
