Jordan stopped Lovenox injections recently because he could not tolerate the pain from the injections. He says it feels like the needle is still in his arm a long time after it has been removed.
He also has the same problem with blood draws. He has pain at the site for a long time.
The way he explains some of his pain it seems like he has hypersensitive nerves.
His hematologist suggested contacting his neurologist to try a med for nerve pain. Unfortunately for us, his neurologist is on maternity leave until late August. His neurosurgeon's next appointment is in October.
I'm contacting his LLMD to see if he has any ideas to reduce the pain.
Does anyone else have this symptom? What do you do to treat it?
Thanks!

Hubby has this problem. At one time I was giving him 4 shots a day -- Heparin, B12, Iron, and I can't remember what else.
Just had to stop with all shots. Switched to oral Heparin, but it was too expensive so I started doing IV Heparin although I know that is not the best route (only lasts 30 minutes I think compared to several hours for shots).
The pain from blood draws is probably from scar tissue -- hubby has this problem as well.
Don't really have any answers. Just wanted you to know you are not alone with these symptoms.

Bea,
We were putting the Lovenox through Jordan's PICC line until the line was pulled. His hematolgist said it was OK to do. Maybe this would be an option for your husband.

Pab, I have had this happen to me for long periods of time. It's at it's worse when all my nerve endings feel like they're standing on end.
It does seem to go away when the nerve sensations are calmer.
I'm sorry I have no advice. I just know sometimes I'm more hypersensitive than others. I don't know how to turn it off.
I'm sorry Jordan is going through this.
(I had a giant picc line in my upper arm at one time. It was the only line I had any discomfort from; they hit a nerve putting it in. It's been out for 5 years. Occassionally, when my neuro pain flares I still get some pain at the entry site. Very peculiar.)
