I was busy and trying to get on here with problems and heard them mention ticks, so stopped to go and see the segment. I had missed some of it.

A RN was there with all types of skin products for protection in the summer..

She said DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE BLACK SPECKS! You only have to worry about the grey engouraged ones. I was then sick!!! She even said she has had lyme disease.

And she also said that you only have a one in 10, 000 chance of getting anything from the engouraged ticks..

She was able to demonstrate removal and stressed to use tweesers..However one of the ladies kept trying to mention and you can use vaseline and the RN never put her off.

HOw can a RN that says she has had lyme disease say this? I did not catch her name or where she was from, but maybe she is Mrs. Steere or something.

Well, speaking for us guys, I would say that we don't watch The View,
and if any of us were even considering it (not that we would), here is yet another reason not to.

LOL

I too saw The View today. For selfish reasons however, I heard about the blow up with Star Jones and wanted to see what the show was doing now that Meredith and Star were both off... I digress...
I was flabergasted at the words of this nurse regarding not only Lyme disease (which Elisabeth specifically brought up to the nurse so the public would have information on it).
The nurse said exactly as posted above... as well as saying "A lot of mom's go to the ER with their children saying they have a lump on their head because they are unable to recognize an engorged tick"
She showed the pic of a tick vs an engorged tick and then made the stupid remark, You only have a 1 in 10,000 chance of getting lyme disease from an engorged tick- you don't even really have to worry about the black speck (tick). VERY SAD indeed.
Thankfully the View is more entertainment and less information. I think people really know better than to look to them for medical information... or important information at all.
FURTHERMORE- to state just how sad this lady's information was... she went on to explain that when your child has such an extreme sunburn you should put vaseline on their arm and cut the end of a sock off, slide it up the arm so the kid doesn't "Goop up" your house. Ummm... my thought is that 1... a good parent will sunblock their kid and not allow them to get an EXTREME SUNBURN... and 2... if a bad sunburn occurred, my guess is the last thing a parent would do is be concerned if something got on the contents of their home.

Try this:

http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/show.html

then click "ask the viewmaster" on the gold bar under their headshots.

A window should pop up and then you can send a message.

I never watch that show, but any opportunity to send correct information to shows or newspapers makes me happy!
