Hi folks,
Good news. NYS Senator Charles Schumer held a news
conference in Long Island to support Lyme disease bill
S.1479 and its House companion bill H.R. 3427, and to
raise Lyme awareness.

Pat Smith of the Lyme Disease Association and patient
advocates Diane Leary and Eva Haughie spoke at the
press conference.

The press conference was covered by Channels 2, 4 and
12. (Channel 12, apparently, is public TV.) Also,
CBS radio covered the press conference.

This is the second press conference that Senator
Schumer has held for Lyme disease.
Ellen

Saw the 11pm news last night on channel 4. A couple of good points that the reporter made that indicate some posivie change and respect for this disease were:

"There are no reliable tests for lyme disease"

"Only 1/3 of people bitten by a tick get the rash"

One third is better that the fifty percent number that is usually always used.
