Anyone else have this? This started happening to me about 2 years before I think I got lyme, but I'll never be certain of when exactly I got lyme.

It can't be related to a drug I take because I wasn't taking any for several years and still had this problem.

If I bend over and stay that way for more than a few seconds, my head and neck just pour sweat and I keep sweating for about 10-15 minutes after I straighten up. The rest of my body is unaffected in the perspiration department.

It doesn't matter if I bend from a standing or sitting position, the result is the same.

It's murder for me to try to do housework with this problem, esp. in the summer in the south, and I'm truly not looking for an excuse not to do housework. Gardening is out of the question.

Does anyone know what this is and what can be done for it?

Thanks,

Sue

This is one of my remaining symptoms...

I suspect BABS because of all I've read here...

I have not been dx'd with it but we all know how bad the tests for that can be.

I get it after drinking my second cup of coffee...
when I try to sleep at night/day...

When I attempt ANYTHING excercise wise....

EVEN when I just do menial tasks around the house...as a matter of fact I'm perspiring profusely right now as I type this little ditty...

OH WELL...time to lay down.....zmanps I also have diabetes now...so have to go tomorrow and learn what symptoms to look for...

CRap...another disease to learn more about than my ducks.....HEHEHEHEHEEE.........zman

Tony Z,

The sweating could also be a sign of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This happens to me and I do not have Lyme or any tickborne diseases. If hypoglycemia is the problem, the sweating will be worse if you fast for too long or if you eat too much sugar or carbs. For some strange reason my sweating with this is worse from the knees down.

Do you have any heart conditions that you are aware of?

Some heart conditions can cause this.

Thanks for the responses, folks.

Although my overall perspiration has increased in the past few years (I'm a 51-yo overweight female), the excessive perspiration I'm talking about here is strictly positional - when I bend over, and it's my head and neck only that are involved in the deluge.

RE: heart conditions - that's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm not aware of any, but I do have thick blood and I put on about 40 lbs. when I got lyme due to my thyroid slowing down.

Also, I do have metal excretion problems and have read in homeopathic articles that mercury can cause this. I've been attributing it to mercury, but I've had my fillings out for several years so my mercury burden should be lower.

That's why I'm seeking other possible explanations for what it could be, so I don't miss something important. My MDs have never taken it on when I've mentioned it.

Sue,

See this thread.

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=045693

Thyroid causes include overactive thyroid -- if you have gained weight you probably have underactive thyroid.

Personally, I don't think the mercury is the problem.

Do you have any dizziness or headache at the same time?

This is just a guess and is not medical advice. I think the hypercoagulation is the problem. It is theoretically possible that you have a very minor blockage in your carotid artery and bending over restricts the bloodflow more than normal. If this was me I would definitely have dopplar imaging done of my carotid arteries plus have a thorough blood workup for cholesterol and fibrinogen.

It is possible that EDTA chelation would clean out your arteries if they are the problem.

Thanks, Bea. Appreciate your thoughts.

I am taking thyroid meds and have stopped gaining, but have not lost any weight.

I agree with you that it might be a blockage or my sticky blood, and will badger the doc about it when I see her Monday. I noticed last night when cleaning birdcages that I didn't even have to bend with my head below my heart for the sweat to pour.

I barely perspired at all until I got sick. Babs test was negative; I got Bart in '83 from a cat scratch and may still have it despite a month of Rifampin.

Note: this is an older post that I did a search on.

I am having sweats then chills.....on and off all day and thru the night. This happens even if I'm active or sitting at a desk doing work or sleeping.

I spend the days with a blanket around me while I work one minute, then push it over the chair when the heat/sweats come the next minute. Talk about running hot and cold. [Smile]

I'm looking into if I have Babs. No test I've taken has indicated this.....but sounds the way to go.

If it is babs, what are the cures for it?

Guess I should search on this too. [Frown]

Ok, I've just found that art and mepron are good for this.......are both rx's I should talk to my doctor about or are they herbs?

All of the info I found on the site search here is so good....but so overwhelming.

Is it bart? Is it babs? Is it lyme? Are they all part of the same thing?

I'm on IV Rocephin now--week 4. Doc called this morning and said my hemoglobin levels are falling (from last blood test). She will take weekly blood samples but if it doesn't improve, she's taking me off the IV.

So I sit here, hemoglobin challenged, running hot and cold constantly, hoping I can salvage this life or what's left of it.

I will say, my pain levels have diminished a bit and so has the brain fog to maybe 50%. So I take this as a positive. I'll grab onto anything I can these days.

But I'm still sweating/freezing each moment and fatigued, with headaches, neckaches, backaches, feet/leg aches.

Whine over, I guess I just needed to vent to those who understand our daily/hourly challenges. [Frown]

Love you all......I know what you are going thru every day as well. Bless you for being here and helping folks like me. [Smile]
