Hi again. Last night I wrote "...since I kind of "plateaued" - granted, I wasnt complaining since it was the best I had been in 8 years - my doc on Long Island put me on 2 weeks of Ketek alternating with 2 weeks of Flagyl. I am still taking the Omnicef and also just started Questran powder (GROSS!!!).
I started the Ketek and Questran this past Monday, of course, during my normal week of the month that I dont feel so great because thats when the Lyme is more active. Needless to say, I am feeling horrible!! I have 2 small kids and I feel like I cant even function with them!"
Well, I called my doc and didnt get much help. The nurses suggestion was to take 1 Ketek instead of the 2 and see how that goes. Does anyone have experience with that? Im wondering if I should just forget all of this until the winter when my one daughter will start school. It will make it much easier to live.
Any help... please???
Thank you, as always! - Michele

I to have two young children....if it is not possible to take care of them well while you are on ketek I would stop until the fall. You could also see if it lasts by staying on it for a week or two.
I feel because its summer it is so important for my kids to have a good time...so far i am ok on ketek.
good luck

One per day sounds viable....even 1/2 pill per day would be better than stopping completely! Check with your dr!!

I've been on Ketek for three months now and in the beginning I began to feel bad about four or five days into the treatment. That lasted less than a week and now I simply herx on schedule.
I would suggest that you hang in there fro a few more days to see if this passes before giving it up. If it continues, then cutting back sounds like a good alternative.

Just wanted to update and let you know that I did wind up stopping. I just couldnt do it anymore with the 2 kids. Im not functioning well at all at this point and Ive been off the Ketek and Questran since Friday.
I plan on calling the doc tomorrow and hopefully will re-start once my daughter starts kindergarten.
Thanks everyone... wish I didnt stop, but I have to think of whats best for everyone here, not just me.

Hubby has been on 2 Ketek a day for about three weeks. Just added NAC to the mix.
He's really having bad cognitive problems right now. I sure hope that clears up some time soon!!

Hi Michele,
I'm just curious why you would start Ketek AND Questran on the same day. I personally always just add one thing at a time (OK, I'm a super-sensitive type so I have to), but that way, my LLMD and I can determine exactly what is causing a bad reaction if I have one.
Maybe when you decide to add Ketek and Questran back into your regimen, your LLMD might let you add one, wait a few days, then add the next so you can see which one, or whether it's both, that were causing you not to function well.
Good luck! Jill
