After stopping ABX for awhile, I am now trying the andrographis / reservatrol / cat's claw core protocol of healing lyme. That in addition to frequent Mg.

I've only been taking it one day and yet I feel like total sh*t. Old neuro symptoms plus heart racing and a little right-side chest pain (nothing major) were bothering me today. Head foggy, muscle twitching. All that crap.

Had palpitations and all that with lyme, so it's no surprise they would come back.
For those who've taken it, have any of you had such a quick herx on andrographis?

Either it's that or the lyme is just acting up again on its own.

I know it's supposedly good at crossing the BBB, and since I had a lot of neuro symptoms, maybe that explains it?

This disease SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!!! [bonk]

Johhny,

You didn't say what doses you were taking.

The andrographis seems to be the hardest to tolerate for most people.

In fact, I started hubby with only 1 pill and he had such a bad reaction I waited a week before trying it again. I think he is up to 3 or 4 pills daily now after several months.

My advice is to just go a lot slower than the book advises and only add one item at a time until you see what kind of reaction you have.

Would also suggest adding in Sarsaparilla and Redroot to help with herxes.

Feel better soon.

if your drawing up your own regimen, you might first want to consider doing some regimens that have been tested with tbds, and have produced some good to excellent results.

for example: dr zhang, trad.chinese medicine approach.

Buhner: i haven't tried this, but, from the testimony of several long-time lymies, this is one to consider at the top of my "list".

The protocol described *is* Buhner's basic lyme protocol.

Yes, sorry if I didn't mention before. This is the core protocol from Buhner's book, Healing Lyme.

I don't have the bottle in front of me, but I started with the recommended dose, but just 1 pill 3-4 times a day until I can tolerate more.

Neuro symptoms are acting up more, but then again, as per another post on the board, I seem to feel worse in the summer, anyway. More light sensitive and maybe heat killing the keets and releasing more toxins.

I do like the fact that they tested with radioactive material and saw that it indeed does get past the BBB to the brain and spinal cord, so here's hoping.

Thanks for the info, guys.

ONLY take ONE pill of each ONCE A DAY for the first week. THEN go to TWO pills a day, for a week, THEN three pills a day for a week. THEN six a day for a week, etc.. UNLESS you can't jump up to six a day.

I ended up with 4 pills, three times a day and did fine. BUT I was sure to have Sarsaparilla ALL the time. AS a matter of fact you might start the Sarsaparilla by itself for a few days first.

I felt BETTER, not worse when I started the herbs. BUT I did start out VERY slow at first as I had such terrible stomach pain and nausea BEFORE I started treating.

I also put in Devil's Claw into the mix from the very beginning, even before I started the Andrographis. AND after the first day of it, I felt much better with it.

Then later I added Stephania Root, Stinging Nettle leaf, Red Root, Milk Thistle, etc..

DO NOT take Garlic with Buhner's protocol.

As others said:

Start very slowly, if necessary.

I hope, you'll be better soon.

For me too, andro is THE strongest of the protocol.

Since I started visiting this forum, I think there was never a post saying a person DIDN'T herx after andrographis.

If I take more than 3 caps / day(for months, I've been only on 3), I can have strong air hunger and get to ER. If I take less than 3, I have my arthritic symptom back in less than 2 days!

Even after so many months, I still feel slight herxes minutes after I take it!

Go slow and good luck!
Selma
