HEY.. that isn't MY suggestion.. but that of a doctor in a highly endemic area of CT.

Wonder how much he was paid for THAT research?

CHICAGO (UPI) -- Deer ticks, which transmit Lyme disease, seem to prefer biting people wearing clothes, a Connecticut doctor reported
Tuesday.

In a letter to the Journal of the American Medical Association, Dr. Henry Feder Jr. of the University of Connecticut Health Center in
Farmington, Conn., said he found that among more than 300 people at a nudist camp, the only deer tick bites were reported by persons who were
wearing clothes.

What was surprising was that deer tick bites were very unusual occurrences at the camp,'' Feder said. `This was not because nudists could not identify deer tick bites, as many of the nudists reported deer tick bites that occurred at their permanent homes.''

Experts generally recommend that people wear long-sleeve shirts and long pants in deer tick areas to deter bites. However, Feder said the
deer ticks actually apparently prefer to get underneath clothing, such as under long pants not tucked into socks.

Only one case of Lyme disease-associated symptoms had been identified by doctors treating the nudists, Feder said, even though the camp was in
the deer tick's ideal environment.

One explanation is that although deer are present, deer ticks are not yet established. A second explanation is that deer ticks do not like
nudists, as ticks prefer to do their biting under cover,'' he said.

A more formal study was being planned, he said.
Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness that initially often causes a rash and flu-like symptoms such as fever, fatigue and aches. These
symptoms may be followed weeks or months later by neurologic, heart or joint abnormalities.

The disease was first recognized in 1975 in Lyme,
Conn., but has been identified in at least 43 states and in other countries.

Any volunteers?

What these morons did'nt seem to realize is...

IF you're running around nude and have THAT much skin exposed...

You are probably using an insect repellant ALL OVER your body....

Either that or you're just too ugly for the ticks to attach themselves...they have pride too...

Could also be the crabs attacking the ticks!

Dark moist places... that's what concerns me. [Eek!]

I'll wait and let you and LMT test this out first as I'm not sure I'm ready to participate in the inspection process and my glasses are not strong enough.

I'm thinking we should move this thread into the activist section here.

They've been looking for a way to get the press' attention during demonstrations. This just might do the trick!

Actually, a double blind study would be where not even the researchers would know who is nude or not.

How would that work?

I guess everyone would have to be nude, but one group have their clothes "painted" on ?

But wait--that wouldn't work because everyone would be nude and there wouldn't be a clothed group to compare to.

Hmm. [confused]

HA! You all are TOO funny! I am still laughing!

Yo True...

You asked about the "secret places" and if the nudists were "shaved" for this research study.

As I was checking out the original concept in the article above... I typed in the words "ticks" and "nude" in the search bar.

Hmmmmmmmmmm... when I did that... I happened to stumble across some, some, some.... well... porn sites!

DUH! What did I expect?

[bonk]

And to answer your question... it doesn't appear all nudists shave.

And that's all I'm saying bout THAT!

Yeah, I can see it all now. [Razz]

Bart stretch marks glistening off the sun exposed milky white skin. The doxy burned derriere's. Nude volleyball where everyone forgets the rules or their PICC lines get tangled up in the net.

The sand court lined with bowel incontinence "deposits". Having a herx while serving and hitting an opposing team member causing even more lesions on their MRI. Playing all the way up to "1" because of dementia and chronic fatigue.

We could post the game highlights on YouTube and charge a quarter for viewing to keep out the riffraff. [Big Grin]

Last time I ran around in the woods in the nude- playing hooky from high school , no less , with a friend, we got busted because , well because, we didn't get any tick bites , tis true,

but we both got horrendous cases of poison ivy in places one doesn't normally get poison ivy. [Eek!]

Maybe it's because we weren't always running around. [Wink]
So you might say we got poison ivy up the yingyang.

BUT NO TICKS. How's that for a field test?

Blushing in Balto,

Well of course I had to check and did the tick nude search and got a lot of things..Tomorrow, I may even get brave enough to click on one..

The fire island ecology nude tick thing involved swimming..It has potential..That would really add another dimension to the protection..Water..Ha..

Carol, oh my..You were a little devil now weren't you..NO wonder you need to still spend some time in bible school..

NP40 mentioned YouTube-How about we're all running around in the woods bare assed naked with Godzilla Tick chasing us ? Now there's bit of comedy or would that be a horror flick ?

or

we could play Tick Tag, and whomever Godzilla Tick catches gets to put on the costume and chase everybody else ?

or

we could play Duck , Duck , Goose(the Duck), now that is just too much to picture in the nude.

This is as much fun as planning Annie's 4th of July Barbecue!

OK. I'm trying to have a serious IM conversation with a friend and you all have me rolling on the floor! It's the best laugh I've had in ages. [Big Grin] [lol]

Yea, what a beauty!

You would be very frightened if you knew what I had done: remote control of your computer and I have downloaded your pics: - - -

Dave that is pretty good..Especially since I am computer challenged. Some days I have trouble with the graemlins.

Since you are a wiz kid with copying..Are you any good at creating? I would like a duck-tick..Both are sucking the life out of everyone. It does not have to be naked..But you can try that too..To fit in with the theme of the post..

Now we did it!

I happened to casually mention at the dinner table that I had been reading replies to a post about a doctor in CT who did a research study at a nudist colony... and how they found the folks with no clothes didn't get as many tick bites... even in endemic areas.

WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!! WARNING!!!!

How QUICKLY a medical discussion can turn on you... and bite you on the butt!

NOT a good topic to bring up right after you have made your very first ever trips to CT... and only a few weeks ago!

Now they are teasing me about going to CT ... not once but TWICE... to go to the nudist colony... rather than Dr. Jone's hearing and the rally!

Guess I stuck my foot in that one, eh?

[Big Grin]
