Went out this morning to grab the paper and noticed one of my flower pots tipped over. I went in the garage and got a broom and decided to sweep the front porch. Not a long chore maybe 10 minutes max.

When I came back in I noticed I was bitten by 3 mosquitos. I've read in the newbie link that mosquitos can carry lyme. I'm off the majority of abx and having been taking a lot of olive leaf and am about 85% better.

Should I hit a round of abx or continue the olive leaf? I'm probable being paranoid but a lot of us never really know how we got lyme disease.

I can't answer your question, honestly -- but just wanted to say that the same thought crosses my mind, too. I am a bug-magnet - always have been. (I know this is pretty typical of lyme folks.) I do find that taking garlic helps a little with repelling bugs, but I still get bitten.

I've decided to try not to stress it all too much -- I still have to live my life, and now that I am feeling better, that definitely includes outdoor activities. Obviously I will do whatever I can to avoid any more ticks, but the other bugs are harder to avoid, and I can't be coated in bug repellant every moment of my life.

As a golfer in florida Ive been bitten by literraly thousands of mosquitos.

I also know many people who hunt and pull ticks off themselves frequently without any repricusions. (not that I'd recommend this)

My point is, take precautions and such, but dont let it consume you.

hey snowboarder;

Try not to worry too much about this. Worry is not good for your lyme disease.

Just be on the lookout for fevers/chills ect or an increase in symptoms.

The olive leaf sure couldn't hurt.

Take care

Hey Snowboarder,

I sure hope that all will be just fine... [Smile]

And it is GREAT news that you are feeling so much better- YIPPEE!

As far as the mosquito bites...well, we never know, do we? I had a LD friend there in Denver that had LD and friends, but also contracted West Nile through mosquito bites.

This was a couple of years ago, so I don't know what the status of WN is there now, but I do know that back then, it was pretty bad.

NOT trying to give you any more stress, just want you to be aware so IF you do begin to feel bad, you will have another avenue to persue, OK?

If you need more info, please contact Lightfoot, and she may be able to put you in contact with that CO patient.

For temp relief of the itchies from bites, I like to use aloe vera gel. You can purchase it in a bottle, or if you just happen to have an aloe plant, use that. [Smile]

IF you have any standing water nearby- you can run to your local hardware store and get a few "mosquito dunks". These are chemical floats that kill mosquito larvea, larvee, eggs...and are harmless to other critters. They can be broken into pieces for smaller containers of standing water- fountains, ponds, etc.

Take good care, and happy sweeping!

Much love,
Melanie

Thank you everyone. I'll pay attention and hopefully nothing will happen. I've been taking biopure garlic and am hoping that will continue to help. I don't want to appear paranoid but know that I need to be extremely cautious.

Hey Melanie great to hear from you. Interesting I have no standing water any where but the mosquitos seem to be hanging out on my front porch.

Yesterday I was in the back yard and was fine. Today I'll head down to the nursery and see if there's anything I can use to help exterminate all mosquitos setting up house keeping on the front porch.

Yes, I guess I would not worry TOO much. Heck, here in Wisconsin, the mosquito is our state bird.

I got bit again last night, and of course we right away think about it. I think more West Nile, than I do Lyme, from the Mosquitos. West Nile is more prevalent right now, AND more deadly.

As far as Olive Leaf, I was taking it. But since there is not so much actually know about it, and some of these herbs INTERFERE with Buhner's protocol, just like garlic does; I stopped both the Olive Leaf AND the Garlic now.

I am sticking more to Buhner's protocols from here on out. I am going to try Coptis again, and see IF I can handle it, as IT too is a COLD herb.

Just be careful WHAT you mix with one another, so you don't get into trouble. Or so you are not cancelling out one herb with another.

Hi Jim

I didn't realize there was a problem taking olive lead and garlic. Typically I take them 3 hours apart.
