I'll be starting on this combo treatment shortly (Mepron & Zithromax) and was wondering what precautions I should take while on these drugs.

Is there anything I should avoid while taking these drugs? I'm currently taking protein shake supplements; will this be okay?

Also is there anything I need to take (aside from acidophilus) that will help my body cope with these drugs? Anything to help my liver?

Thanks in advance.

Dave..

Since it is late... I'll simply say..

Water.. drink it... lots of it.

Milk thistle.. take it for the liver.

Avoid CO-Q-10.

Protein shakes should be fine.

If you do a search here at LymeNet.. you will find lots of good information. Simply type in MEPRON.

Others should be along later to help.

Good luck!

Dont take milk thistle while taking mepron.

http://www.hcvadvocate.org/news/NewsUpdates_pdf/2.2_Conference_Reports/mthistle.pdf

There was some research on this as mepron is used in some treatments (PCP) of AIDS. AIDS patients often took milk thistle to help their livers. They found that milk thistle lowers the concentration of Mepron in your blood or something like that. Look at above or type mepron and ilk thistle into google. I havent been able to find any liver support that can be taken with mepron. They all compromise it's effects.

Also---take mepron with a fatty food or eat a meal with it. It needs fat to be absorbed properly.

Good luck---it is a great therapy for babs!

Thanks guys.

So I just started the Mepron/Zithro treatment. I was previously on Doxy for about two months without any symptoms or Herx reactions. If I don't have any symptoms or Herx reactions on Mepron/Zith as well, would that be weird?

Again, I had a bullseye rash appear about two months ago, but I had no symptoms whatsoever. My Igenex test results came back pretty positive for Lyme and Babesiosis. I'm just wondering since I haven't had any symptoms or Herx reactions, is that out of the ordinary?
