Despite a positive PCR of blood and urine, my skin biopsy of the EM rash yieled the same results as previously mentioned.
The comment at the bottom of the biopsy report stated "a tick bite could NOT be ruled out". Of course, this was not enough for the insurance company to pay for further treatment.

Have you tried appealing to the insurance company? Seems to me like the other 2 positive PCR's should be considered.
Just spoke to lab director at MDL this week -- trying to order test kits for stomach biopsy specimans for hubby. Was told that skin biopsies of rashes were generally positive by PCR 75% of the time.
If you have no more appeals left, then file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner. Some states (Virginia is one) have an outside arbitrator who can rule on claims issues -- requires a small fee to file.
Don't give in without a fight.

Yeah, I agree on that one as well. Positive PCR is DNA, and if someone repeats that from the BLOOD, my God, either an INCREDIBLY STRONG case must be proved that the samples were contamined, and the EM rash you had was well- uh, that's Lyme, sorry there is no other explanation.
But yeah, this is the PERFECT case for appeal, DNA of the blood, are you kidding me? WOW, that doesn't happen often, the denial really sounds like negligence to me.
Seriously, if those were your results, I'd consider a lawsuite because that kind of evidence may be strong enough not just for appeal, but rather for court.
